Like most ARPGs,Minecraft Dungeonsis meant to be played with friends. The game allows multiple players to team up on a mission totakedown the Arch-Illager, with a story spanning different missions and encounters. However, players have begun to wonder ifMinecraft Dungeonssupports crossplay, allowing users on different platforms to play together regardless of the ecosystem each player is on.
Crossplay has become a standard feature for many games, with titles likeCall of Duty: Modern Warfaresupporting crossplay. That stands in stark contrast of the beginning of this console generation, and, unfortunately, isn’t a capabilityMinecraft Dungeonshas — or at least not one that it has at launch.

Right now,Minecraft Dungeonsdoesn’t support crossplay, but the feature will be added in a future free update, according to Mojang Studios. This means that players on Xbox One can’t play with users on other consoles, and vice versa. Additionally, save progress will not transfer to different platforms, so those looking to start a game on PC and finish it on Xbox One are out of luck.
Still, it is good news thatMinecraft Dungeonswill get crossplay in the future. Not only is it an important feature for a multiplayer game in 2020, but it proves thatMojang Studiosis dedicated to sticking withMinecraft Dungeonsand that the game will continue to evolve. Right now, there’s no window on when the update will actually release, but it does seem like something that will be a priority, given how important crossplay has become in the last few years.
Minecraft Dungeonshas confirmed other DLC, too, with more missions and story content slated for sometime in the future. Mojang is likely giving players a chance to play through the game before announcing more, which is a wise move, as it has the potential to spoil aspects of the game.
There are a lot of secrets inMinecraft Dungeons,and while its a bit disappointing that players can’t discover them with those on other platforms, at least they’ll be able to play together at some point, it just isn’t entirely clear when crossplay will be added toMinecraft Dungeons.
