The game director ofIt Takes Twohas released another stellar coop game, and apparently, Hazelight Studios' next title will be even better thanIt Takes Two. Going into the release ofIt Takes Two, Fares was saying how it would blow our minds away and his streak may continue.
Fares is forever confident in Hazelight Studios and the games the studio makes, just as he was withA Way OutandIt Takes Two, and it looks like he remains confident in the future games from the studio. Currently, the studio’s next title is unannounced, but Fares is already talking it up and suggesting that it will follow some themes found in both of the studio’s existing titles.

Hazelight Studios has once again seen success with the recentrelease ofIt Takes Two, and Fares isn’t surprised by its continued success. His strong belief in the studio is what fuels his confidence when he takes to the stage to announce games. Fares has a storied film history and he has transferred his knowledge from that industry to create the industry’s first romantic comedy video game.
Fares plans to spend many sleepless nights in order to make another game that he’s sure, and Hazelight Studios' track record suggests, will be great. The game director explained similar story beats that fans may have noticed inA Way OutandIt Takes Two, suggesting potential spoilers in the storytelling of the studio’s unannounced project.
“You have to understand, without spoiling, scenes like this have been inBrothersandA Way Out,” said Josef Fares during a recent interview with Push Square. “Not scenes that are violent, but scenes that upset people. For instance, the ending ofA Way Out, I still today get reactions of people really upset, and say, ‘Why couldn’t I choose not to do it?’ But that’s the whole point! You have to do it. And it’s the same thing with this game.”
With the studio working on its next title already, it looks like Hazelight Studios continues to work hard producing quality games. Fares suggests that the unannounced game will have a similar tone toA Way OutandIt Takes Two,such as story beats that force the players to do things that might otherwise feel uncomfortable for the rewarding experience of finishing the story and seeing it all through. It Takes Twohas been atop seller on Steamand the PlayStation Store, and it has been widely praised by critics and fans alike, whileA Way Outsold over 3.5 million units.
“If you ask me about our next game, I can tell you now, it will be evenbetter thanIt Takes Two,” said Fares. “It’s gonna be so crazy. That’s how sure I am, like the concept, what’s gonna happen, and people will be blown away.”
Considering Fares has a history of announcing games at The Game Awards, he may continue the streak at The Game Awards later this year.
It Takes Twois available right now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
