Summary

Few characters inJujutsu Kaisencan rival Mahito in the sheer level ofvileness and unrepentant villainyon display. As a curse born of human hate, it is in his nature to commit atrocities. What’s more, unlike other villains in the series, Mahito has no tragic backstory to justify his behavior.

Mahito’s death took place in the 22nd episode of season 2, towards the end of the Shibuya arc, when he was defeated by Yuji Itadori and then absorbed by Kenjaku. Although his run is over, he had more than enough time to commit his heinous deeds, and the scars he left on the heroes ofJujutsu Kaisencan’t be overstated.

10Killed People in the Cinema

Showed His Murderous Nature

Mahito’s first significant act is to go to the cinema and kill three unsuspecting schoolboys. They cannot see the curse, and he has complete control over them, toying with them and forcing them to suffer a gruesome death as he ruthlessly disfigures their bodies.

Those schoolboys were not good people, as they were shown to ruthlessly bully Junpei Yoshino. However, there was no righteous motive in Mahito’s actions, and he picked his victims randomly. This act establishes Mahito as a merciless killer for the rest of the series.

9Supported the Cause of the Disaster Curses

Tried to Earn His Place as a True Human

Mahito and three otherpowerful cursespropagated the idea that cursed spirits are the truest manifestations of humanity’s nature, as they are created directly from humans' negative feelings. While at times Mahito seemed to not care for the cause too much, and appeared just to be in for the slaughter and fun, he still believed that his right to exist came before those of humans.

This belief in his superiority led to Mahito committing most of his crimes. All of them were a part of a bigger plan to overtake humanity, again demonstrating Mahito’s uncaring, arrogant nature.

Considered Breaking His Promise

Binding vows are sacredin the world ofJujutsu Kaisen. Whenever one is made, its conditions are expected to be upheld. Failure to do so could lead to devastating consequences, hence almost universal respect for the binding vow from all characters. However, Mahito was among the few who were willing to break it.

When he meets Kokichi Muta, he is expected to fulfill his binding vow and heal Kokichi. However, Mahito displays his disdain and annoyance at the nature of the vow and considers killing Muta immediately. Only Kenjaku can convince him to abandon this idea.

7Took Todo’s Hand

Destroyed a Powerful Technique

Few are lucky enough to battle Mahito and survive; even those who live don’t leave the battle without scars. This is demonstrated by Aoi Todo, who comes in to help Yuji battle Mahito. Todo demonstrates unmatched courage and intelligence, as he can provide challenges for Mahito that few others can.

However, this battle results in Todo’s hand being transfigured and destroyed by Mahito. While the injury is traumatic enough already, it’s even worse because Todo’s cursed techniques rely on his hands. Losing one of them was enough to strip the sorcerer of his most powerful tool.

Used the Boy’s Naivety to His Own Ends

When Mahito meets Junpei, the latter is in a very bad place. He has no friends and faces relentless bullying from his peers, making him vulnerable to Mahito’s manipulations. The cursed spirit pretends to befriend Junpei, listening to him venting and offering advice.

However, Mahito never cares for Junpei, and only uses the boy to his advantage. He manipulates Junpei into turning his anger and hate towards his bullies into violence, culminating in Mahito orchestrating Junpei’s mother’s death, pushing her son over the edge and towards murder.

Jujutsu Kaisen Shibuya Incident

4Participated in Gojo’s Kidnapping

Orchestrated the Shibuya Incident

A pivotal part of Kenjaku and Disaster Curses’ plan was to seal Satoru Gojo in the prison realm and remove their most dangerous opponent. Even for a group ofpowerful curses, this goal wasn’t achievable without careful planning and impeccable teamwork. And Mahito played his part.

Mahito wasn’t there at the start of the battle, but he joined in along with many transfigured humans, putting Gojo in a complicated situation. He later assisted Jogo and Choso in fighting Gojo, wearing him down, preparing him for Kenjaku’s ultimate deception, and sealing him away.

3Transfigured Countless Humans

Used His Technique in a Vile Way

Mahito’s technique ofidle transfigurationhas undeniable potential. Touching a human allows him to transfigure their soul and body any way Mahito wants. His binding vow with Mechamaru shows that it can be used for healing, but that is not how Mahito chooses to utilize it. Instead, he chooses violent purposes.

ThroughoutJujutsu Kaisen, Mahito transfigures countless humans, both named characters and bystanders who happen to be in his way. He casually turns them into weapons or monsters, causing them to go through unimaginable pain without a shred of remorse.

2Killed Nanami

Finished the Job for His Allies

Nanami Kentois one of the most beloved characters inJujutsu Kaisen, a man with a stern exterior and a noble heart. He went through a lot of pain in Shibuya, starting with Dagon wounding him and later getting burned by Jogo. Despite this, Nanami continued his battle against transfigured humans and emerged victorious.

However, this left him open to Mahito, who came out of hiding and used his technique on Nanami. The sorcerer accepted his death with dignity, but he also happened to die right in front of Yuji, which only pushed the boy further towards despair, leaving him scarred for life.
