During the 2023 Game Awards, fans got to watch the reveal trailer forJurassic Park Survival. Set in the immediate aftermath of the originalJurassic Parkfilm, players will take on the role of Dr. May Joshi, a scientist left behind when the characters from the movie escaped. The trailer mostly contains pre-rendered footage but, based on the few moments of Alpha gameplay, the title looks to feature first-person gameplay with a survival horror vibe.
While brief, the trailer does do an excellent job of highlighting iconic locations from the original movie and paying homage to some of the most exciting moments. A spitting Dylophosaurus, a leaping Velociraptor, and a roaring T. rex all make appearances and the title’swebsitecertainly emphasizes the game’s ties to the first movie. With the recent entries struggling and the original topping the list oficonic movies that are turning 30 this year, it makes sense that developer Saber Interactive would want to cash in on that classic nostalgia.
Love for classicJurassic Parkdoes seem to be on the rise at the moment. While it has been some time since gamers got a new title and the film franchise is stagnating, there’s still support for the good old days of the franchise. Earlier this year, it was announced that a collection classic games from the series are being released and, back in September, it was revealed thateven more belovedJurassic Parkgames are returningwith that collection. WhetherJurassic Park Survivaljoins the list of great games set in this universe remains to be seen. For now, dinosaur fans, at least, have something to look forward to and speculate on.
