Nintendo showed off one of the new copy abilities coming toKirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe, the Mecha copy ability. This was one of the new abilities shown off in thereveal trailer forKirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe, the remaster of the 2011 Wii platformer. This game is capping off Kirby’s strong year throughout 2022-2023, with many looking forward to a dolled-up and improved re-release of one of the best games in the franchise. This isn’t just a graphical upgrade either, as it adds a lot of new features in both the main adventure and mini-games department.This includes an overhauled remake of the fan favoriteSamurai DuelKirbyminigame, which is a reflex-based quick-draw type of activity that can be played with four players. This mini-game will also have online play, along with the option to set a record among 99 other players. Aside from that, the main adventure will feature some new copy abilities like Mecha, with some of its mechanics detailed in a recent tweet from Nintendo.RELATED:Kirby is Getting Its Own Presentation at GDC This YearKirby’s new Mecha abilitycan utilize a variety of elemental attacks, such as shooting fireball mortars that fire high in the sky, which can be used to hit certain projectiles or enemies out of the air. The Mecha can also use physical punching attacks that seem to be imbued with fire or electricity, with one move being able to expel fire from its jets. There is also a beam cannon that can be fired horizontally, where it shoots small electric bullets or can be charged to fire a giant beam that can greatly damage enemies.

This isn’t the only new copy ability being introduced in the game, asReturn to Dreamland Deluxefeatures a new ability known as Sand. This ability allows Kirby to manipulate sand into a variety of shapes and sizes, constructing sand castles and other projectiles that can help defeat many enemies in a player’s way. The original game already had a wide variety of copy abilities for players to choose from, not including the time-limited Super Abilities that can help reveal areas or defeat bosses.

Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxeis currently looking like the definitive version of the Wii classic, thanks to all of its new additions and graphical overhauls. This includes new challenge stages added to the Lor Starcutter hub, along with the mini-games being a part of a new area called Merry Magoland. With only a few weeks before release, fans should expect to see a little more before its release in February.
