In its next update, launching on October 4,Mario Kart Tourwill finally be adding Battle Mode to the game. As a mobile companion to theMario Kartgames,Mario Kart Tourhas proven to be an incredibly popular title on iOS and Android, allowing fans to race on the go. Combining old favorites and some new tracks exclusive toMario Kart Tour, the game has been consistently updated with more content for its players, and some of these racecourses have even made their way into theDLC forMario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Alongside introducing new tracks, the developers forMario Kart Tourhave also changed some other features of the game. Recently,Mario Kart Tourgot rid of its gacha mechanic, which proved to be an incredibly controversial feature as it was essentially another version of a loot box. Players were able to gain significant boosts through randomly getting drivers, gliders, karts, and more through the gacha mechanic inMario Kart Tour, something that proved unpopular even when the game first launched in 2019.

Now, rather than remove another feature fromMario Kart Tour, the developers at DeNA are adding an incredibly popular mode to the game in its next update, which launches on October 4. There are multiple Battle Modes that have appeared inMario Kart, with each focusing on a different objective besides coming first in a race.Mario Kart Tour’sBattle Mode features Balloon Battle, where players must utilize items to pop three balloons over another player or NPC’s head. Shells, banana peels, bombs, and more can be used to knock out players, leading whichever team or player who is left with balloons crowned as the winner.
Mario Kart’sBattle Mode is an incredibly popular alternative to the usual races people can experience in the franchise. It has featured in every game sinceSuper Mario Kart, though Balloon Battle was notablymissing from the original version ofMario Kart 8, which featured an odd twist on the Battle Mode as it let players duke it out on the regular racetracks.Mario Kart Tourwill feature two Battle courses in GBA Battle Course 1 and GCN Cookie Land.
Also, in the new update, alongside the introduction of Battle Mode, players will be able to access a new Green Racing suit for their custom Mii characters inMario Kart Tour. As more tracks continue to be added toMario Kart Touralongside features from the previous entires in the franchise, themobile spin-off ofMario Kartis feeling more and more like a proper entry in the franchise.
