Summary
AMinecraftplayer has discovered a unique skull design hidden in the game’s bone blocks. Although bone blocks have been part ofMinecraftsince 2016, one detail may have gone unnoticed until now.
Bones have been part ofMinecraftsince the beginning, but bone blocks weren’t added until update 1.10. While bones are usually used to create bone meal, bone blocks are storage blocks that can be found in desert and swamp biomes. Bone blocks are normally found underground whereMinecraftplayers can also find fossils. The bone block can be converted into nine pieces ofMinecraftbone mealwhich can be used to help crops grow. ThisMinecraftplayer spotted an interesting detail in the bone block that can be easily recognizable with the help of zoom.

Reddit user TempoGlideFreeze recently shared aMinecraftscreenshot that focuses on the top of a bone block. TheMinecraftbone block has minimal detail in various shades of gray, but TempoGlideFreeze has revealed one that is hard to unsee. In the middle of the block where the lighter gray fades to darker shades, TempoGlideFreeze has pointed out a unique skull design that can’t be found in any other blocks. ThoughtheMinecraftmob bestiaryhas included skeletons since the game was launched, skulls have been largely missing, but the bone block may have had the design since update 1.10.
The skull in the bone block is slightly off-center, and it includes two light pixels indicating its eye sockets and one for its nose. There are three teeth protruding from the bottom of the bone block skull, which may helpMinecraftfans locate its pixilated design.Minecraftfeatures a plethora of blocksthat players can decorate their Seeds with, but most of them don’t include skulls. WhileMinecraftplayers can make skeleton head blocks, the design on the bone one is more like the skull used in many icons. Based on the reception to TempoGlideFreeze, few otherMinecraftplayers have spotted this skull detail.
Although the skull sticks out more than other details in theMinecraftbone block, its right side extends further than the other, and it has additional light pixels. Because TempoGlideFreeze was able to notice this small bone block detail, there may be otherhiddenMinecraftdesignsthat remain unnoticed. Given that existingMinecraftskulls avoid the traditional look that the bone block features, it’s currently unclear if Mojang intended to use this design on this item.
Minecraftis available now for mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and most legacy platforms.
