Infinity Ward’sModern Warfare 2has seen a high player count and positive reception ever since its launch. Despitesome of the game-breaking bugs, a large majority of players have enjoyed what the latestCall Of Dutyentry has to offer. GivenModern Warfare 2’s inevitable long-running cycle due to the franchise skipping an entry in 2023, it is highly likely that players will be in for a good proportion of content not only for the standard multiplayer modes,Warzone 2.0, andDMZbut also forco-op.

5Survival Horror/Zombies

Considering the recent rumors regarding a possible addition of ‘Zombies’ inModern Warfare 2,this would be a no-brainer for Infinity Ward developers. Given how beloved zombies is forCall Of Dutytitles more specifically withBlack Opsentries, the addition of this or any new type of horror-like survival mission would be perfect for the co-op mode.

It would open up the door for developers to potentially create something new and unique which could create competition with Treyarch’s classic mode.Multiplayer modes such as Infectedwould stand as a blueprint for Infinity Ward to build on top of and utilize for a new surprising mission type.

Shoot House

4Siege

Very much akin toBattlefield 2042’s’Breakthrough' mode,Modern Warfare 2would benefit from this but not as PvP. Implementing this within Spec Ops could be very fitting and add to the level of difficulty some of the current missions give. With the ability to rank up in weapon and battle pass progression in these missions, this would add further incentive for those who wish to level up and prefer a challenge against the CPU rather than other opponents online.

With modes such as the ‘Third-Person Moshpit’ standing as an option for players, it is not unlikely that new and unique siege-like missions may be added to the game later down the line, particularly due to Infinity Ward’s intention of regularly updating this each season.

3Siege Defence

Whilst this could come alongside a normal siege mission, this would be more aligned with a survival type of mode. With the DMZ mode containing CPU that is far more aggressive and intelligent than usual, this could work very well in a mode where players must fend off attackers and enemies in bulk. The current ‘Defender Mt. Zaya’ mission is very similar to this concept, as players must defend each zone from enemies attempting to detonate bombs.

In a new and different mission, developers could not only increase the number of waves fans must survive through but increase the number and variety of enemies creating an onslaught within a new location, which would heighten the difficulty and possibly offer greater rewards.

New Operator Skins

2’Clean House' Type Mission

Modern Warfare(2019)’s ‘Clean House’ mission within its campaign received a high level of praise for its level of realism and authenticity in the aspect of special operations. Out of all of the potential mission types for Infinity Ward to include later in the game’s life cycle, this would be the most befitting, with Spec Ops being dedicated toward this mission style. Despite the ‘Low Profile’ mission certainly containing aspects of ‘Clean House’ with the presence of night vision and the safer option of remaining stealthy, it feels much less punishing.

To improve this, developers could either revamp ‘Low Profile’ to be more akin to ‘Clean House’ and provide a more unforgiving and brutal experience after being spotted or create a totally new mission that has a more linear path in one specific building and an instant fail once players are detected. This would provide a real special ops experience, and encourage fans to take extra precautions in their gameplay style for co-op.

Aim Down Sights

1Extraction

Another mode that is included inModern Warfare 2’s multiplayer PvP is ‘Prisoner Rescue’. This game type is very much like one of the campaign missions, where players must rescue Laswell. In multiplayer, this is proven to be successful and operates as an engaging mode, but would definitely serve better in co-op. Against the most aggressive, intelligent, fast, and dangerous enemy types, an extraction mode in which players would have to get through a plethora of enemies to rescue a particular target and escape the onslaught would be a great addition.

This juxtaposed with an exfil and a mini survival stage within it would be heavily beneficial for players who have hoped for a mission type aside from Warzone 2.0, which relies more on tactics and communication and much less on the gung-ho nature.

Clean House Mission

With Season One Reloaded set for release on December 14 which will come with the return ofModern Warfare (2019)’s’Shipment' map, a new raid mode, and new weapons, fans may have to wait until Season Two for any potential update on co-op missions. For now, players have access to a total of five to experience.
