Today’s Nintendo Direct as part of E3 2021 is here, and as expected, the focus is on games for the Switch. The following Nintendo Treehouse presentation will give more information about new reveals and feature some gameplay for fans to watch. As moreNintendo Switch exclusivesare revealed for 2021 and beyond, Nintendo is also keeping fans sated with more announcements concerning one of the upcoming games in theMonster Hunterseries,Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin.

Monster Hunter Stories 2has already made a few different appearances during the E3 2021 showcase, as it will soon release on July 9. During yesterday’s Capcom showcase it was revealed thatMonster Hunter Rise’s first collaboration event would be withMonster Hunter Stories 2, and hunters will be able to get some themed layer armor sets based off of key characters from the newMonster Hunter Storiesgame. Capcom also confirmed ademo version ofMonster Hunter Stories 2will release on June 25 along with a free content update on July 15.

However, today’s trailer overview during the Nintendo Direct presentation aims to give fans a deeper understanding of how the monster companions, or Monsties, will work inMonster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. The best way to explore the world of the game will be on the back of a Monstie, and if wandering monsters happen to attack the player, they can team up with their Monstie to unleash powerful attacks. Finding an egg will also give hunters a chance to hatch powerful Monstie companions.

With a bit more combat shown of Monsties in action, it looks like they might be key to taking down some of the tougher adversaries in the game.Monster Hunter Stories 2has a turn-based combat system, and players can pick which part of an enemy monster to attack to possibly get extra materials. When hunters and monsters team up they can execute a double attack, which looks pretty powerful. Withmonsters confirmed forMonster Hunter Stories 2like Gammoth, Bazelgeuse, and Glavenus, there are some team-up options with devastating potential.

Hunters who want some extra back-up besides their Monstie companion can also participate in co-op multiplayer quests and battles. The added help might just ensure that hunters are able to defeat their marks and reap the maximum rewards to outfit theircustomizable characters inMonster Hunter Stories 2. Luckily, the game’s demo will be out a few weeks before its release date, so players can get used to the new combat mechanics if they’ve never played aMonster Hunter Storiesgame before.
