Summary

My Hero Academiachapter 423 marked the conclusion to the final war of the series in a very divisive manner. While the fans absolutely loved the delivery of the last few chapters of the series, with a brilliant set of chapters building up towards the conclusion of the story, now, things are very different.

My Hero Academiachapter 423 might just have delivered one of the most divisive chapters and that is because one of the main characters, Shigaraki, has essentially been killed off. Of course, fans knew that the possibility of him dying existed, however, the way that he died in the previous chapter has quite a lot of the fans perplexed.

The End To Deku Vs Shigaraki

Deku Was Able To Destroy All For One Forever

The battle between Shigaraki and Dekuwas one that the fans had been waiting for ever since the beginning of the story. However, looking back at this battle, many consider the end to be underwhelming, to say the least. While the beginning of the battle was very exciting and fans did get some exciting combat, it was always known that this battle was going to be more on the emotional side than on the action side. This was not an issue, and, in fact, most fans would actually have preferred for this fight to be that way. The author certainly delivered greatly in terms of building up to this moment and even nailing the emotional aspects of the battle.

However,My Hero Academiachapter 423 certainly took some very strange decisions that left the fans in a state of shock. Essentially, after Shigaraki was taken over by All For One for the second time, the battle turned from Deku vs Shigaraki to Deku versus All For One. This battle was eventually concluded by Deku delivering a powerful blow to the greatest villain of all time, and, thanks to the help of the others, this war was brought to an end. What fans did not expect, however, was for Shigaraki to end alongside All For One. That is precisely what happened in the previous chapter, and as Deku landed his final punch on All For One, Shigaraki was turned to dust as well. This was an absolute shocker for the fans, who were expecting for Shigaraki to be saved from the clutches of All For One. This decision has left the fans confused and it is certainly one that nobody expected.

Shigaraki Tomura’s Death

Shigaraki Fought To The Very End

My Hero Academiachapter 423 essentially saw Deku transfer the last bit of his powers to All For One. This ember, which was from Yoichi, eventually spoke to the greatest evil, and essentially asked him to pay for his crimes of using everyone for all these years. That is precisely where everyone took up arms against the greatest villain, including the former vestiges, with Shigaraki fighting back as well. This essentially led to the fall of All For One, and combined with the blow that Deku landed on him,Shigaraki’s body finally started to crumble.

If Spinner survived, tell him this, “Shigaraki Tomura fought until the very end to destroy”

My Hero Academia

Before he could crumble to dust, fans got a proper exchange between him and Deku. Shigaraki mentioned that in the end, it was his grandmother who saved him and dragged him back. He wasn’t able to destroy anything, and that Deku ended up succeeding in the end. Deku mentioned that Shigaraki wanted to be stopped and that is why he stopped him, but that he couldn’t forgive what he had done. That is precisely why Deku continued fighting and why Shigaraki eventually ended up falling.

With that, Shigaraki mentioned to Dekuthat if he sees Spinner, tell him that he continued to fight until the end to destroy, and with that, he crumbled into dust as the sunlight hit Deku while he did his victory pose. This was quite an anticlimactic end to the battle, and fans are now left confused as to what is going to happen to Shigaraki from here onwards.

If he truly did simply turn into dust and die, then this was a very underwhelming conclusion to his character. In fact, the fact that the author ended up giving All For One two conclusions while Shigaraki got none of his own, which is truly sad. That said, there is still hope, and many believe that Shigaraki isn’t truly dead. Fans simply have to wait and see how things turn out in the upcoming chapter ofMy Hero Academia.

Did Shigaraki Deserve To Die?

Shigaraki’s Death Might Have Been Vital

While Shigaraki might be alive, there is only a small chance of that happening, and right now, nothing indicates he is returning. As of now, fans simply have to work under the assumption that Shigaraki is no more. This brings up the question of whether Shigaraki did deserve to die or not. The very first thing that fans need to acknowledge is that Shigaraki was a villain and that he did commit quite a lot of atrocities. For that reason, many could argue that Shigaraki deserved to die. However, after witnessing his childhood and all the pain that he went through, it would be unfair to say that Shigaraki deserved a death in that fashion in the series. For one, Shigaraki never had true freedom in his life. Right from the get-go he was being manipulated. In fact, in the recent exchange of memories, it was even confirmed that Shigarakiwas manipulated by All For Oneright from the moment of birth.

Even his Quirk was given to him by All For One and the good side of it was stripped. From the very moment of his birth, he was being set up by destruction by All For One and this is very sad. A character who suffered this much and was led down the wrong path by none other than All For One certainly did deserve a second shot at things, after the person responsible for his suffering was no more. Yet, the author decided to turn Shigaraki to dust and end him alongside All For One, and what is even worse is that he didn’t even give him a proper chapter to himself in the end.

His entire battle withDeku was overshadowed when All For Onetook over and it would have worked brilliantly had Shigaraki returned in the end. However, the fact that he crumbled after All For One was killed makes all that redundant. The fact is that Shigaraki deserved redemption and Deku knew that as well. That is precisely why Deku wanted to save the little boy inside of him so badly. As of now, the only conclusion that fans can come to is that the death of Shigaraki in the manner in which it happened was undeserved and that the author could have done much better in this regard.

As mentioned earlier, there is a possibility for Shigaraki to return, and if he does, then, one can say that this conclusion was written near perfection. However, if the author does decide to stick with the decision of keeping him dead without expanding Shigaraki’s story any further, then, it can safely be said that this conclusion might just be one of the most unfortunate ones in the series.
