Practically every year, the nextAssassin’s Creedgame is host to a plethora of leaks leading up to a big reveal. This year seems to be no different, even with the typical reveal venue E3 being canceled, and the latestAssassin’s Creed Ragnarokleak has some strong things to say about past leaks.

First, it’s worth mentioning that this leak comes from French YouTuber and gaming streamer xJ0nathan. This means there’s a little more credibility here than a run-of-the-mill 4chan or RedditAssassin’s Creedrumor or leak, but still, fans should take it with a grain of salt.

First, xJ0nathan confirms that it will be about vikings but that the name is neitherAC: Kingdom(its codename) norAC: Ragnarok. This isn’t much of a surprise, as while early leaks did put out theAssassin’s Creed: Ragnaroktitle, it was more or less picked up as fan nomenclature for the upcoming game. xJonathan reiterates that fans will be able to change gender likeOdysseybut refutes claims that theprotagonist is named Jora, also adding that the female character is canon (like Kassandra inOdyssey)

Perhaps the most interesting mentions are the return of the Hidden Blade andOrigins' shield.Odysseydidn’t feature a traditional hidden blade, with Alexios or Kassandra instead using the Spear of Leonidas as an assassination weapon.Bayek also sported a shield inOrigins, and it’s befitting of the Viking Era for it to return. In short, it seems like the combat design may be more akin to Bayek’s combat thanOdyssey’s, although that remains to be seen.

Other details include even more RPG-like elements thanOdyssey, something the franchise has seemingly been building toward; Scandinavia isn’t the only territory onAssassin’s Creed 2020’s map, again befitting because of how Vikings led raids; lots of supernatural appearances for the First Civ, most likely similar to how the Isu appeared as Greek Gods inAC Odyssey; and finally, a complete refutation that co-op would be returning, one of the most pronounced rumors thus far.

With E3 cancelled, it’s anyone’s guess when events will take place, while some will surely be later, some earlier, and so forth. According to xJ0nathan (and others), thereveal forAssassin’s Creed 2020is still coming soon. xJ0nathan states that it’ll either be late April or early May. This also means fans don’t have to wait long to see if this pans out, and they won’t have to wait long to get it either, as he reports it is still slated to drop by the end of year.
