Ninja remains one of the most popular and successful online streamers, even after his excursion to Mixer that forced him to rebuild his fanbase.Fortniteremains Ninja’s go-to game to bring in big viewer totals, so it’s not surprising that he returns to the game consistently. But now the Twitch streamer has revealed another reason whyFortniteis one of his favorite games. Apparently, theFortniteand Epic Games Store creator code brought in as much as $5 million in a single month.

The detail was shared by Ninja during a Twitch stream this past Thursday, as he was playingFortnitewith fellow Twitch streamer NRG Ronaldo. The two were discussing creator codes and finances, when Ninja added a comment about how much he’s made. He says that the most he’s made in a month from creator codes was $5 million. “Not joking,” he adds afterwards, as Ronaldo is heard guffawing in the background over the number.

Creator codes are a part ofEpic Games' Support-A-Creator program, allowing content creators to earn money fromFortniteand other games in the Epic Games Store. After registering and being approved by Epic Games, a creator can share their unique code among their audience. The code can then be input alongsideFortniteor Epic Games purchases, with a portion of the cash going to the creator. For example, for every 10,000 V-Bucks spent a creator would earn $5.

In other words, at the height of Ninja andFortnite’s popularity, with Ninja earning $5 bucks per 10,000 V-Bucks, a million transactions went through using Ninja’s creator code in a single month. That’s representative of not just how popular Ninja was back during his streaming-with-Drake- days, but also justhow popularFortnitewas at the time, too. $5 million in a single month just through creator codes is an astonishing number, and likely just a fraction of what Ninja made at the time.

Ninja is well known to flex his wealth just for the sake of flexing. For example, in April 2020 Ninja was frustrated with certain criticism he was receiving and said that he was wealthy enough tobuy a bank and foreclose on their homeif he wanted. He’s also complained about high taxes, saying how frustrating it is that someone making $50 million would have to pay $25 million in taxes.

It’s clear that playingFortnitehas been particularly lucrative for Ninja over the past several years. In 2018 Ninja said he was making around $500,000 a month. A report in 2020 showedNinja made around $17 million in 2019. His move to Mixer is said to have been worth at least $20 million. $5 million in a single month seems crazy compared to those totals, but it’s definitely possible Ninja just had one very good month atFortnite’s peak.

Fortniteis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
