Over on Reddit, user itsmefizzy posted an image of their own Nintendo 3DS while in New York City, expressing their disappointment over not receiving any StreetPasses from fellow 3DS owners after spending an entire day in the city. The post quickly went viral as fans chimed in, reminiscing on how just one day in the city back in 2012 would net them tons of StreetPasses to check when they got home.

Comments on the Reddit post were flooded with fans wishing they could still receive at least half as many StreetPasses as they used to, as many still avidly play their 3DS systems to this day despitethe overwhelming success of the Nintendo Switch.Fans also expressed how exciting it is when they do receive StreetPasses from other players today. Others explained that they won’t give up hope, with plans to try and collect StreetPasses in cities, airports, and other highly populated areas.

Most of all, the overwhelming consensus among fans seems to be that they wish a similar feature would be brought over to the Switch, especially with how popular the system is, beingone of Nintendo’s best-selling consolesto-date. Many fans came together to give advice on new areas to try out for StreetPasses as well, such as comic, anime, and video game conventions, as well as local video game stores.

StreetPass continues to be one of the most highly-requested features to come to the Nintendo Switch, along with system themes, game folders, and more. While many had hoped that a Nintendo Switch console revision would bring such updates to the system, the recent reveal ofthe Switch OLED modelhas given fans the impression that Nintendo may be saving such firmware updates for the future.
