One Piecehas become one of the most read and hyped-up manga and anime of all time. Fans always look forward to new manga chapters or new anime episodes getting released. It is astounding that while most shonen manga or anime franchises fail to deliver top-notch quality in terms of storytelling and overall plot after becoming too lengthy,One Piecebreaks this tradition and only gets better with its increasing duration. All the credit goes to the creator ofOne Piece, Eiichiro Oda who always keeps things mysterious and interesting for his readers.
The mysteries or secrets kept by Odain the storytelling work in favor of the manga as they increase the engagement of fans or readers with the manga as they attempt to solve these mysteries or unravel the secrets by forming some of the best fan theories out there. However,in contrast to best fan theories, some fan theories are just absurd or make hardly make any sense and one such fan theory is the one currently spreading like wildfire on platforms like Reddit. This absurd fan theory is known to the internet world as the ‘Shanks’ Twin' theory, and it came into existence after chapter 1083 of theOne Piecemanga came out.

The Theory
The Shanks' Twin theory is the newestOne Piecefan theory on the online fan forums of the manga after the release of chapter 1083 of the manga. In chapter 1083, Oda revealed to the fans the existence of a group ofspecial warriors that guard the Mary Geoisecalled the Holy Knights. Oda introduced them in their silhouette form and one of the silhouettes looked awfully lot like everyone’s favorite Yonko Red-Haired Shanks. This has led the fans ofOne Pieceto come up with the fan theory which speculates that Shanks has an evil twin brother.
The fan theory goes on to state that Shanks and his twin belong to a family of celestial dragons, and the pirate king, Gol D. Roger, found Shanks at the God Valley and the latter became a pirate. And the person thatthe fans saw meeting the Goroseiwas not Shanks but his even twin However, his twin remained at Marie Joise and became a member and possibly the leader of the Holy Knights or the God Knights that protect Marie Joise. The only reason fans believe in this theory is the fact that Oda either forgot to or purposefully did not draw the scar on Shanks' face during his meeting with the Gorosei.

Does the Theory Make Any Sense?
Even though this fan theory sounds entertaining and might make for a thrilling plot twist later in the story ofOne Piece, still the fans who are having a firm belief in this theory are supposed to have jumped the gun because this theory is not plausible at all and does not even have valid evidence to support it. Firstly, if Shanks is with the world government and the celestial dragons then why would he steal Gomu Gomu no Mi (now revealed to beHito Hito no Mi after its awakening) from a world government ship?
Secondly, the scar on Shanks' face is on the left side and only the right side of his face was shown to the readers when he met the Gorosei so, the chances of Oda purposefully doing this as a false tease are far more than that of Shanks having an evil twin. Thirdly, fans who came up with this theory seem to have missed out on a more important detail in chapter 1083, they came up with the theory of Shanks' Twin only after noticing one of the silhouettes of the Holy Knights looking like Shanks, but they forgot that silhouettes of someone don’t reveal anything about the actual person in One Piece. This is evident in the case of chapter 69 of the manga which mentionedthe Seven Warlords of the Seafor the first time revealing their silhouettes, however, the actual Seven Warlords looked nothing like the silhouettes that were introduced in chapter 69. Therefore, the silhouette that looked like Shanks most probably is just Oda playing fun mind games with his readers.
Therefore, the Shanks' Twin theory is most probably not going to come out to be true in the future ofOne Pieceand is just fans trying to get their heads around thevery secretive yet revealing storytelling styleof Eiichiro Oda. His storytelling style is the only way that the fans or readers of the manga will confirmedly know why did he make the silhouette of a member of the Holy or God Knights resembling one of the most liked characters in theOne Piecefranchise, the Yonko Red-haired Shanks. Hence, the fans will have to wait for Odato make a big reveal regarding Shanks.
