Summary

AnOverwatch 2fan has shared some mockups of souvenirs dropping when a hero is killed. Souvenirs are a rarely-usedOverwatch 2collectible that was added in Season 1, but this player has an idea to make them stand out more.

Overwatch 2was released with the cosmetics of its predecessor while introducing some unique ones of its own. Beyond the different rarity skins, emotes, highlight intros, and more, Souvenirs were a fresh addition. A more common collectiblethat was introduced inOverwatch 2is the Weapon Charm which can be added to any hero’s weapon for some added flair. Many players have unlocked Souvenirs or Weapon Charms passively through the Battle Pass or acquired them by buying a Shop bundle. Because the Souvenirs take the place of Emotes, many gamers choose not to use them. One gamer has an idea to make Souvenirs a coveted item in the Battle Pass rather than an overlooked one.

Reddit user Vindictive-Victim recently shared fourOverwatch 2images highlighting their mockups for a new Souvenir idea. Rather than using the cosmetic item in the place of anOverwatch 2Emote, the idea is to have them drop when a player is killed. The screenshots focus on a defeated Tracer that has different Souvenirs equipped despite the item being locked to one per character. The Tracer drops a Sombra skull, a chest, a blue figure, and a heart Souvenir when killed in the Training area. This idea would transfer into other game modes and competitive, where after a character dies, their equipped Souvenir would linger in their place for a moment.

How Could Droppable Souveniers Be Applied to Overwatch 2?

Given that there are over 80Overwatch 2Souvenirs, this concept may give them more meaning and could make adding more of them to the game something players could anticipate. Going beyond Vindictive-Victim’s idea, one player suggested that the mockups are the perfect idea for a Kill Confirmed game mode. Kill Confirmed is aCall of Dutymultiplayer mode in which gamers collect the dog tags of their adversaries. Combining the mockups with this idea would suggest thatOverwatch 2fans would collect each other’s Souvenirs instead. The Souvenir mockups could also be used in a game mode where players can revive each other. After a character is killed inThe Finals, they’re replaced by a trophy which can be carried to safety before reviving them.

While nothing usually happens in a match after a player is killed, these mockups could be a win-win if adopted by Blizzard. As moreOverwatch 2seasonsgo by, more Souvenirs may be added to the game. Given that fewer players use Souvenirs than Emotes, Vindictive-Victim’s concept may breathe new life into the cosmetic item.
