The announcement ofOverwatch 2collaborating withOne-Punch Manhas led to a number of players asking Blizzard to consider other potential partnerships. The announcement of aOne-Punch ManSaitama skin for Doomfist has broken the damn on licensed collaborations inOverwatch 2. While some players fearOverwatch 2could soon start to look likeFortnite, others are excited about what other anime and manga characters could be next.

This past week, Blizzard officially announced its first licensed collaboration with the popular anime and manga,One-Punch Man. While the full extent of the collaboration has yet to be confirmed, two crossover skins have been announced so far. The first is a Saitama skin for Doomfist, and the second is a Mumen Riderskin for Soldier: 76. The event will last from March 7 through April 6, and more details, including other cosmetics, are expected to be revealed in the weeks to come.

Now thatOverwatch 2players know licensed skins could be coming to the game going forward, they’re offering up their ideas. Multiple posts on Reddit, as well as on other social media platforms, are offering suggestions for the nextOverwatch 2collaborations. OneOverwatch 2player suggestedEdward and Alphonse Elric skins fromFull Metal Alchemistfor Ashe and Bob. Another player suggested an All Might fromMy Hero Academiaskin for Reinhardt. Yet another suggestion was for anAttack on Titan’s Beast Titan skin for Winston.

While Blizzard hasn’t hinted that further collaborations are coming later in 2023 or beyond, there is some official hope for future anime collaborations forOverwatch 2. A 2022 interview withOverwatch 2VP Jon Spectorsaw the developer mention that they’re a big fan of games working with other brands, and that he’s a “big anime nerd” himself.One-Punch Manmay be just the first of many anime and manga collaborations.

Not everyone agrees that licensed collaborations are the best direction forOverwatch 2to go, though. Many players argue thatOverwatchhas always been a franchise that’s taken itself seriously, and thatcollaborations like theOne-Punch Manpartnershipsimply cheapenOverwatch’s authenticity. They want Blizzard to continue focusing on original stories and cosmetics, instead.

TheOverwatch 2of today is not the same as the vision Blizzard had for the originalOverwatch, however.Fortnitehas capitalized heavily on its collaborations and players have shown that they want more in the future. Odds are,Overwatch 2players will be similarly enamored.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
