Lifeweaver is the newest addition toOverwatch 2’s growing hero roster, but some of the support character’s unique abilities are already having a negative impact on players in the middle of combat. The launch ofOverwatch 2’s Season 4 has been quite a rocky one so far, with many players struggling to even get their hands on the new hero due to issues with queue times that are affecting both matchmaking and purchases within the game’s shop.

Lifeweaver has been a character surrounded by a mix of anticipation and concern since his reveal at the beginning of April. His standout design and kit quickly won over many fans of the game, but others were wary of the character’s set of abilities after they were shown off in his reveal trailer. WhileLifeweaver has a lot to offerin the way of utility, many players also view him as a prime pick for trolls, as the character’s Life Grip ability is capable of transporting allied players across a distance without requiring their permission. Life Grip’s intended function is to allow players to be rescued if need be, and while this is undoubtedly a useful tool for saving allies that are at risk of plummeting off the map, it has also proven to provide a way of messing with teammates.

While there are certain abilities, Ultimates included, that prevent a player from being affected by Life Grip, a well-timed use of the ability is still capable of canceling some teammates' abilities when it’s cast. One unfortunate instance of this happening is shown in a clip shared by the user c4rnage042, which features their play as Sigma being ruined after they’re pulled out of their Ultimate. While the ability could be intentionally exploited togrief other players inOverwatch 2, this case appeared to be an honest mistake on the part of the Lifeweaver player. With most players still getting their hands on the character for the first time, there’ll no doubt be plenty of accidents while fans continue to learn - though some members of the community fear that such accidents could lead to excessive false reporting of other players.

Lifeweaver’s ability to pull allies across the map isn’t the only issue that fans are having with the character though. With the addition of his placeable petal platform that can move allies and block pathways, as well as his passive ability that can potentially provide health to enemies upon death,Overwatch 2’s latest addition is certainly a hit-or-misscharacter depending on the type of player in control.

Many in theOverwatch 2community are having issues with matchmakingand in-game queues which have persisted since the recent launch of the game’s fourth season. Fans are hoping that a lot of these technical kinks are ironed out over the coming days, though many are also left wondering if general usage of Lifeweaver will prompt the developers to make changes to the hero later down the line.

Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
