Developed by Recreate Games, the adorable PvP game captured people’s hearts with its fuzzy characters and hilarious gameplay that many content creators shared online. An early access version ofParty Animalscame out in 2020, and was officially released on PC andXboxthree years later, to the delight of many fans.
Party Animalshas a number of game modes that let players either duke it out in free-for-all “last man standing” matches or team matches where they protect objectives in the form of giant gummy candies.Party Animalsplayers are also given weaponsto hit their opponents unconscious, making it easier to push them off maps, such as ancient ruins with noxious gas and a warship in the middle of the ocean. During the recent Summer Game Fest,Party Animalsrevealed a new mechanic that will add more chaos and hilarity.
The Party Animals Can Use Super Powers To Fight Now
In its latest trailer,Party Animalsrevealed that it added super powers, also known as “Pawers” or “Perks,” that give animals certain advantages in matches. This new feature is only available in Smash, a new game mode where players fight to be the last one standing within six rounds, and try to accumulate the most points in the end. At the start of each round, players will choose one Pawer that their animals can use for the whole duration of the game mode.

There are a total of 50 different Pawers thatprovideParty Animalsplayers with special movement abilities, unique powers, and the ability to resist certain attacks, among many others. Here are some of the notable ones that players can try out inParty Animals:
While playing through Smash rounds, players also get the chance to get “Super” versions of their chosen Pawers, which tune up their base stats. For example, Super Magnified Boom will make bombs even more powerful, while Super Camouflage makes animals invisible for a longer time. These can greatly improve players' chances of winning Smash matches and make them more interesting as they finish all six rounds.
With Smash being a newer game mode, it still has some limitations, like not supporting local multiplayer and not allowing players to join ongoing Smash maps. In aDev Log posted on Steamlast month, theParty Animalsteam said it’s still working to refine and update the game mode in the coming months. This could also mean that Pawers can get buffs and nerfs if needed, and perhaps include them in other game modes in the future, even just for a temporary time.
