A patient discovered that their doctor might be a gamer after they noticed thatSteamwas running on their work computer. The post garnered some laughs from fellow gamers who started guessing the contents of the doctor’sSteamlibrary.
Developed by Valve in 2003, Steam is a free-to-download digital video game distribution service for the PC. It allows players to purchase, download, and install games through the client, as well as get regular patch updates for certain games. Probably the most popular perk on the platform are the occasional discounts, with the latest being the ongoingSteam Chinese New Year Salethat will run until January 23rd.

WithSteam seeing record-breaking numbersthis January with 32 million concurrent online users and 10 million concurrent players, it’s safe to assume that most gamers with a PC has the client installed for all their gaming needs. As Redditor BassFaun36 found out during a hospital visit, even their doctor had Steam on their work computer, which can be seen in a photo showing the client’s login page displayed on the monitor. While the post got a few laughs from other gamers, BassFaun36 didn’t follow it up with an anecdote about their doctor’s favorite games.
In the comments, many Redditors joked that the doctor may have games likePlague, Inc.andSurgeon Simulatorinstalled to supposedly “train” before going in the operating room. One person with the handle thesippycup, who’s about to start their residency, shared that “tons” of young doctors played games to kill time while on shift, and that the user’s personal picks wereStardew ValleyandRimWorld. Another commenter pointed out that it’s okay for doctors to play games from time to time as it gives them a chance to unwind from their stressful jobs.
This isn’t the first time people have seen doctors showcase their love of games. Last Halloween, adoctor shared a photo of himself and his cat dressed up as Cloud Strife, and also shared that he had aFinal Fantasy-themed clinic complete with a Buster Sword replica. It’s certainly proof that no matter what one’s profession is or how busy they can be, they can always go back to their favorite games whenever they want.
Fortunately, Steam now has its own handheld device, the Steam Deck, which is perfect for working professionals on the go. That way, they can access their library and play video games without having to install the client on their work computers.
