After introducing Shiny Scyther last April, the Bug Out event returns toPokemon GOwith a new selection of exclusive bug-themed bonuses, and the introduction of Shiny Dwebble.
AlthoughPinsir Raid Day has been unfortunately canceled,Pokemon GOTrainers can still enjoy a 2x Catch XP bonus throughout the entirety of the event’s timeframe (Friday, 11-07-2025 at 8:00AM to Wednesday, 27-05-2025 at 10:00PM, local time), during which wild bug-type Pokemon, like Scyther and Dwebble, will also be spawning more frequently.

Pokemon GOplayers can also look forward to special research tasks and rewards. Field research tasks are normally obtained by spinning PokeStops on the map, but players who spin a stop during the event’s timeframe have a chance at claiming one of the following event-exclusive research tasks (* denotes a potentially Shiny reward):
PokeResearchers should be sure to snag these tasks quickly before the event wraps up (at 10PM on 7/1,) but that said, once claimed, the tasks will remain in player inventories until completed. Insofar as boosted spawns, players can expect to see swarms of bug-type favorites, like Shuckle, Venipede, and Skorupi, taking to the wild. Players who couldn’t manage to find aShiny Weedle on June’s Community Daymay want to try their luck again now.
Reports also indicate that the following Pokemon have joined the 5km egg pool (* = potential shiny):
And that the following Pokemon have joined the pool of raid bosses:
As a final bonus throughout the Bug Out, players will also find their incenses to be enhanced depending on the day of the week. On Friday/Saturday (6/26 - 6/27), Nincada* will be particularly attracted to incense. On Sunday/Monday (6/28 - 6/29), Wurmple* will be drawn to incense, and on Tuesday/Wednesday (6/30 - 7/1), Scyther* will be affected. This minor, but new, kind of event bonus, heralds theimminent Team GO Rocket update, which is expected to include totally new gameplay elements.
Coupled with 2x Catch XP, the increased bug-type spawns should help trainers complete their bug-themed tasks and level up in no time. Dwebble may not be as wildly popular as the beloved Scyther, but any Shiny Hunter can appreciate the introduction of a new sparkly friend to find. And at any rate, it’s great to seeNiantic experimenting with new forms of rewardsand bonuses. Players who miss out on Shiny Dwebble during this year’s Bug Out have no need to worry, as Shiny Dwebble should remain available past the event dates.
Pokemon GOis available now on iOS and Android mobile devices.
