WhilePokemonas a franchise is certainly as strong as ever, that doesn’t mean that everything about the games has always been praised. While the gameplay becoming stagnant has been an issue for some players with prior iterations of the main series, others have been disappointed by the lack of being able to “catch ‘em all” due to not all Pokemon being available in the game.Unfortunately for those who were disappointed byPokemon SwordandShieldnot including all Pokemon, it looks like the same may be true of the next main entries, as well. Based on an officialPokemonsite, it sounds as thoughPokemon Scarlet and Violetwon’t let players catch or access all Pokemon either.RELATED:Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Starter Names RevealedIt may not surprise fans thatPokemon ScarletandVioletmay not let players find and catch every single Pokemon ever added to the series in a single game. However, what’s likely to be disappointing here is that select Pokemon previously captured and stored via Pokemon Home likely won’t be able to be imported, either. Fine print alluding to this was discovered on the officialPokemon Scarlet and VioletJapanese website. As shared by Serebii, the fine print states that only select Pokemon stored inPokemon Homecan be transferred toPokemon Scarlet and Violet. The transfers allow “select Pokemon limited to the Pokemon that appear in each software” to be brought intoPokemon Scarlet and Violet. While it’s possible that this is simply a placeholder disclaimer, it’s likely that the trend of limiting which Pokemon can be accessed in a game will continue.

Of course, with an ever-increasing roster of Pokemon, it’s likely not the easiest thing to incorporate every single pocket monster while also assuring that gameplay is fair and balanced. With that being said, addingDLC to mainlinePokemongameshas become the norm for the last few releases in the series, so perhaps further down the road players will be able to transfer in all of their favorites. However, this has also been an issue of contention among players for some time now, and it may leave some fans unhappy to hear that the situation hasn’t changed.

WhilePokemon Scarlet and Violetare slated to release later this year, for now, there’s still plenty of unanswered questions regarding the new games. By the time fans get their hands on them, it’s possible that anyone frustrated by the inability to transfer some of their favorites may be appeased by new features and functionality in the sequels.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare set to release in late 2022 for Nintendo Switch.
