There are a lot ofPokemongames, which come alongside a lot of individual Pokemon that are always being added. As such, it isn’t surprising that many players struggle to keep up with all the moves that these Pokemon can learn. That list continues to grow and become more complex due to all the extra effects moves can have.
Fire-type Pokemon are considered some of themost deadly of all typesin thePokemongames. While there are ways to counter them, the sheer force and burn ability that come along with Fire-type attacks make for incredible fighters, especially if players make the best use of some hugely underrated moves.

8Sizzly Slide
Automatic Burn
One of the best fire-type moves inPokemon, Sizzly Slide’s biggest drawback is that it is so uncommon. It can only be used by Eevee inLet’s Go Eeveeas one of the most impressive signature moves inPokemonhistory.
Not only does Sizzly Slide have an impressive base power of 90, as well as full accuracy, but it also comes with a brutal effect. The use of Sizzly Slide guaranteesthe opponent’s Pokemon will be burnedwhen hit. Between the lingering damage from the burn and the huge initial damage done, Sizzly Slide was considered too powerful to be included in the Gen 8 and 9 games. If players come across it, however, they need to make all the use of it that they can.

7Burn Up
Erases Typing
One of the most fascinatingly bizarre moves in anyPokemongame, Burn Up is a huge damage move that comes with a side effect which leaves many players not wishing to make use of it. However, it can be amazing for strategy if players simply know when to use it.
Burn Up has full accuracy and 130 base power. The side effect is that it causes the user to lose their Fire typing, leavingpure Fire-type Pokemonwithout a type at all. This reduces their attacking ability, but also all Fire-type weaknesses. Players can use Burn Up as a finisher at the end of a battle, or they can use it to tactically get rid of their Pokémon’s typing. The latter can be useful when a Fire-type is trapped in battle against a Pokemon it is weak against, such as a Water or Ground-type.

6Fire Lash
Keeps Getting Better
Most Fire-type attacks don’t come with extra effects, but Fire Lash is a great exception. Coming with a base power of 80, Fire Lash already starts as a great attacking maneuver that players will be yearning for in anyPokemongame. And it just keeps getting better the more players use it in battle.
Fire Lash is guaranteed toreduce the defense of the opponent’s Pokemonby a single stage. This means that, since Fire Lash is a physical move, it will do more damage to the target with each successive hit. Lowering an opponent’s stats isn’t usually the forte of Fire-types, so Fire Lash is a great strategy.

5Fire Fang
Many Side Effects
Players will find it easy to discard Fire Fang in favor of moves that provide higher base damage, as most players will prefer their Fire-type Pokemon to be big hitters with a lot of powerful attack moves. However, Fire Fang is incredibly useful. In addition to the 65 damage it provides, it comes with multiple potential effects on the opponent’s Pokemon.
Fire Fang, similar to moves like Bite, has a10% chance of making the opponent flinchand miss a turn. Additionally, it has a 10% chance of burning the target, providing a potential double effect which could devastate the enemy. It beganas a Gen 1 signature move for Arcanine, but is available to more Pokemon today.

4Heat Crash
Great For Heavy Pokemon
A fascinating move, Heat Crash is often forgotten by trainers who don’t fully understand the ability it comes with. Heat Crash doesn’t have a set base power stat. Instead, this movedeals damage dependent on the difference between the weight of the user and that of the target.
Often, the move will only have 40 base power, but if a larger Pokemon uses this move, Heat Crash will cause huge damage. If the target weighs less than 20% of what the user weighs, then Heat Crash has a base power of120, making for a devastating attack. Attacks that reach power levels like 120 are not to be underestimated, since most come with a negative effect in return for this power. Heat Crash, though, has none, making itone of the very best Fire-type moves.

3Will-O-Wisp
Burns Targets
Players often forget that Fire-type Pokemon have options other than merely damaging their opponents. There aren’t a lot of moves specifically for status effects in Fire-typing, but Will-O-Wisp is the best. This move, though it deals no direct damage, burns the target with 85% accuracy. This leaves them taking additional damage each turn, as well as lowering their physical attack.
A number of Pokémon that can learn this move are Ghost-types, meaning many Pokémon can’t hit them. This makes it easy to stall a battle, waiting for the burn to slowly destroy the health of the opponent. Will-O-Wisp is a brilliant move that players should always keep around.

2Blaze Kick
Has Many Great Effects
Blaze Kick was introduced in Generation 3 and is a beloved Fire-type move that players continue to underestimate. Many players dislike the less than 100% accuracy the move comes with, but this slight drawback is massively worth it. The move also makes up for this thanks to the effects that are added, coming in particularly good use for Fire/Fghting-types,which have become something of a meme.
Blaze Kick comes with a chance to burn the target Pokemon. It’s only a 10% chance, but even so, this is a great effect. Additionally, Blaze Kick comes with a heightened chance of critical hits, meaning that 12% of the time, it will do double damage, giving it a base power of 170 which is massively destructive. All of this combined makes Blaze Kick a move that nobody should forget, and it is a big part ofwhat makes Blaziken such a competitive Pokemon.

1Sunny Day
Changes The Entire Battle
Sunny Day is easily the most underrated fire-type move inPokémonhistory. Initially introduced in Generation 2, it is a move that many players fail to make use of, getting rid of it immediately in exchange for more attacking moves. But Sunny Day is one of the few major buffing moves that players can give to fire types.
Changing the weather, similar to Rain Dance or Hail, Sunny Day makes the sun shine brighter. Thisincreases the damage of all Fire-type by 50%for five turns. Additionally, Sunny Day weakens Water-type moves, prevents Pokemon from freezing, has other effects on specific moves like Solar Beam and Thunder with various effects. Sunny Day is immediately forgotten by many players, but their Fire-type Pokémon will often end up with four attacking moves as a result. This usually isn’t necessary, even for the most powerful fire Pokemon. Don’t underestimate the power of this Fire-type support move.
