When Sony first launched the PlayStation 5, it did so with some big changes to the PlayStation Plus subscription service. It was then that Sony introduced thePS Plus Collection, a program that gets PS5 gamers instant access to some of the best games from the PlayStation 4 generation. Among these games wasPersona 5, one of the highest-rated JRPGs ever made, and a game that’s generally considered one of the best PS4 titles ever.
Persona 5’s massive popularity made it a big “get” for the PS Plus Collection, but it will soon be leaving the lineup. Back when Sony announced the free PS Plus games for April 2022, it also confirmed thatPersona 5was leaving the PS Plus Collection. And unfortunately for fans that have yet to claimPersona 5for their digital libraries, time is running out to snag it.

Persona 5is the first game to be removed from the PS Plus Collection since the concept was introduced alongside the PS5 back in 2020. It’s unclear if any other games will be leaving the PS Plus Collection in the near future, but there are some distinct possibilities. As some PlayStation gamers may know, the PS Plus Collection includes titles published by Activision, likeCall of Duty: Black Ops 3andCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and those two games are likely contenders for removal at some point down the line.
Besides the fact that both games are third-party titles,Microsoft is in the process of trying to acquire Activision. If the deal goes through, it would make sense for Microsoft to pull Activision-published games from PS Plus and add them to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service instead. If previous Microsoft acquisitions are anything to go by, though, it’s likely that it Microsoft will honor any pre-existing agreements between Activision and PlayStation.
As for new games potentially being added to the PS Plus Collection, fans shouldn’t hold their breath.Sony is making major changes to PS Plus in June, combining it with PlayStation Now to create three new tiers. With Sony focused on this new initiative, it seems highly unlikely that it will be spending any resources on adding games to the PS Plus Collection.
