The horror community is still struggling to get over the fact thatSilent Hillhas yet to make a triumphant return. There are rumors, of course, that games are in development, but nothing has been confirmed. However, Christophe Gans, thedirector of theSilent Hillfilm says Konami is bringing the franchise back, so fans may yet see another entry in or possibly a remake of the beloved series. In the meantime, some people are busy making their own versions, perhaps in a bid to make sure that gamers don’t forget about the iconic spooky town.
One such example of this is from user Death Templer. As reported by PCGamer, this fan has managed to takePT, which was a tech demo for a newSilent Hillgame that was sadly cancelled, and rebuild the small map withinHalo Infinite’s Forge mode. A video shows them walking around the L-shaped corridor, pistol in hand. While it doesn’t have any of the scares of the original teaser, it does bear a striking resemblance to Hideo Kojima’s 2014 demo and still contains the creepy moans and cries of the ghostly Lisa. Unfortunately, perhaps owing to the editor’s limitations, the corridor doesn’t infinitely loop.

That said, it’s still an impressive rebuild of an instantly recognizable piece of horror gaming. What’s even more impressive is that the map editor that Death Templer has used is not technically available yet.Halo Infinite’s Forge mode has been leaked, so it’s interesting that this person has managed to utilize it to remakePT.For those who aren’t aware, Forge mode allows players to create their own levels in-game and has been a staple feature in the series sinceHalo 3.
That aside, it really does show just how much fans are missing a newSilent Hillentry. Recently, another user did something similar by recreatingPTin the PS4 game creation systemDreams. Not only they remake the teaser, but they also expanded on it, putting players in the shoes of police officer Jeffrey Harper. It’s impossible to know whether this creation is a faithful redoing of what Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro had originally planned forSilent Hills.
On top of this, there were rumors not long ago that aSilent Hill 2remake may be in the works, withLayers of Fearstudio Bloober Team allegedly at the helm. Ever since Konami cancelled the new game back in 2015, many have been hoping that something would emerge. However, there’s been nothing officially confirmed, so all fans can do is wait to see whether a remake, reboot, or a brand-new game does finally see the light of day.
A number ofSilent Hillprojects are rumored to be in development.
