TheResident Evil 2Remakehas been a magnet for mods ever since it released earlier this year, a trend that will likely follow the series into the upcomingResident Evil 3 Remake. One fan has mashed together two horror legends, though, by insertingFriday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees into the dark halls ofResident Evil 2.
Reddit user Immortan_J shared a video of aResident Evil 2mod credited to an author named George from theResident Evilmodding board that replaces Mr. X with the Jason Voorhees model fromMortal Kombat X. Some fans of the mod have made Reddit posts and YouTube videos of this Jason terrorizing Leon and Claire through the halls of the RCPD.

While watching Jason come charging from around corners and crushing enemies heads is terrifying enough, some updates to the mod seem to have added an audio clip that follows the character around. As Jason approaches the character, the classic “Ki-Ki-Ki Ma-Ma-Ma” sound effect that indicates the character’s proximity in the movies as well as inFriday the 13th: The Game. Jason may not be the firsthorror monster modResident Evil 2has featured, but this intense version of the classic slasher is a sight to behold.
It’s no surprise that the modding community is still working in full force to inject humor and horror into theResident Evil 2 Remake, considering how well it was received by fans and critics when it was released earlier this year. Having recently surpassed the originalResident Evil 2’s sales recordsince it released, this new version is one of the most popular horror games of all time, let alone 2019. Only time will tell, however, if this same trend follows for the sequel remake coming in 2020, which looks like it might be a magnet to modders if Nemesis is anywhere near as intimidating as Mr. X.
While the Jason mod is intimidating, there are other mods more lighthearted players that can inject somehumor intoResident Evil 2, in case the constant horror starts to where at the player. However, sometimes seeing Thomas the Tank Engine and the Goose fromUntitled Goose Gamesmashing through a crashed helicopter can be equally as frightening. Regardless of what end of the spectrum players prefer, these mods can keep fans engaged with a game long after release, even if the developers have stopped producing content for the game long before the fad dies out.
