Last week, Capcom announced that it is holding a huge presentation for theResident Evil 8franchise, scheduled to happen today at 2 PM PT. In a tweet, Capcom revealed thatthe showcase will run for half an hourand will take players on a guided tour ofResident Evil 8, alongside a new trailer, gameplay footage, and moreResident Evilnews.

Given that the event is mere hours away, it is not surprising that details on what will be featured at the showcase have already leaked. In a description ofResident Evil 8on the Humble Store, it was revealed that the game would includeResident Evil Re: Verse, which is likely the otherResident Evilnews that Capcom is planning to reveal at the event. Details onResident Evil Re: Verseis still unknown, but it is likely the multiplayer component ofResident Evil 8.

It is worth noting that when Capcom releasedResident Evil 3last year, the game was bundled withResident Evil Resistance, which is a 4v1 online multiplayer mode that aims to bring players a new way to experience survival horror. Although some were happy withResident Evil Resistance, many blamed the multiplayer mode forResident Evil 3’s short runtime and the lack of original locations such as the Graveyard and the Clock Tower.

Additionally, the Humble Store’s leaked description ofResident Evil 8also included a link toRe: Verse’s official website. As expected, the website currently displays a 404 error, but it is likely to change after the showcase, assuming that the leaked description is true. It would also be interesting to see whetherResident Evil Re: Versewould be directly linked toResident Evil 8. It is worth remembering thattheResident Evilfranchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the rumored multiplayer game would encompass several titles of the franchise and not justResident Evil 8.

Luckily for fans, everything will be cleared at tonight’s event. Apart from the in-depth preview ofResident Evil 8, Capcom is also expected to reveal the game’s release date, when pre-orders are expected to go live, and a general discussion about its 25th anniversary. Lastly, it remains to be seen whether Capcom will talk aboutthe upcomingResident Evilreboot filmand Netflix’sResident Evil: Infinite Darkness. However, players waiting for more info on those projects shouldn’t get their hopes up, given that Capcom will likely be focusing the event on the video game franchise.

Resident Evil 8is currently in development for the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
