Capcom’s survival horror series that isResident Evilhas gone through many changes over the last 25 years. The series started off as a more puzzle-focused experience with light action, and then eventually transformed into a franchise that pushes the action over the frights. AlthoughResident Evilhas changeda lot, there are some aspects of the series that have remained the same, from the healing items known as Herbs, to some of the characters, like Chris Redfield.

Now,Chris Redfield himself has changed in his designquite a bit. If someone were to see Chris Redfield in the firstResident Evilgame and then compare it side-by-side to hisResident Evil Villagedepiction, most would think that it was a different person entirely. However, one dedicatedResident Evilfan decided to recreate a younger version of Chris Redfield, but based on his new look inResident Evil Village.

Reddit user KurtLeon posted the impressive piece of fanart to theResident Evilsubreddit, and stated: “My take on younger Chris, circa 1998, based onRE8Chris.” One of the most popular comments beneath the post mentions that the design looks very similar toNero fromDevil May Cry 5, which is, coincidentally, another Capcom game.

In the originalResident Evil, Chris Redfield worked together with Jill Valentine to figure out what was going on in the Spencer Mansion. Capcom designed Chris as a man with a fairly average build, but once Chris made his next main appearance in what would beResident Evil 5, the man was absurdly buff, with huge muscles and a punch that could destroy boulders (which isreferenced inResident Evil Village). Capcom then toned him down a bit in his appearance inResident Evil 7, and then, inVillage, he was bulky but not insanely large.

The fanart looks to be a good mix of all three types of Chris Redfield thatResident Evilfans have gotten a chance to meet. It’s highly detailed and paints a good picture of how a modern remake of the originalResident Evilcould look on next-gen consoles. While the PlayStation 1 game did get a remake back in the day, it might be time to bring it back one more time for those who have never experienced what kicked the franchise off.

There are rumors thatResident Evil 4is the next title being remade, so fans will just have to wait and see if the first game gets a touch-up as well.

Resident Evil Villageis now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
