Yesterday, Capcom held a brief E3 2021 showcase discussing its existing and upcoming games such asResident Evil Village,Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2, andThe Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. Before the presentation, many thought that the event would go heavy onResident Evil, especially after the success ofResident Evil Village’s launch. Unfortunately, Capcom spent the least amount of time talking about theResident Evilfranchise.
The presentation began with Capcom producer Tsuyoshi Kanda thanking fans for their support ofResident Evil Village, and he then proceeded toreveal the release date forResident Evil Re: Verse. Lastly, an on-screen message revealed thatResident Evil Villageis getting a DLC in the future, though Capcom didn’t reveal when it will be released or what it will be about. The big question fans probably have now is, what willResident Evil Village’sDLC explore? Here are some possibilities.

Chris Redfield’s Journey in the Village
Resident Evil Villageis mostly played from Ethan Winters' perspective, except towards the end when Chris Redfield takes over. Given that most of Chris’s squad survived the whole ordeal, it is interesting to know what they and Chris have been doing behind the scenes as Ethan frantically searches for his daughter in the Village and its surrounding locations. It is worth noting that the entire campaign ofResident Evil 7was played through Ethan, but Capcom later introduced DLCs to continue the story as Chris. Given this,Resident Evil Village’supcoming DLC could show Chris’s perspectiveand maybe show events that Ethan wasn’t able to witness.
Ada Wong Cut Content
When Capcom releasedResident Evil Village’sDLC Trauma Pack, some players were able tounearth artwork suggesting that series veteran Ada Wong was cutfrom the game. However, there is also a possibility that Capcom placed that artwork in the Trauma Pack to tease Ada’s return via the upcoming DLC. It is worth remembering that Ada Wong appeared as a playable character in a DLC expansion forResident Evil 6, so it wouldn’t be unlikely if Capcom does the same forResident Evil Village.
As forhow Ada could be involved inResident Evil Village,it isn’t easy to pinpoint right now. ResidentEvil Villagebarely has any connections to characters beforeResident Evil 7, except for Chris Redfield. Maybe an Ada Wong DLC could further tie the latest game to its predecessor or set up what lies ahead. It’s also worth mentioning that, since development just started, this cut content may be used in a way other than what was originally planned.

The Origins of the Village
One of the biggest mysteries inResident Evil Villageis the village itself and its origins. Right at the start of the game, most of the village’s residents revere and worship Mother Miranda. Sure, Miranda may have taken villagers from time to time to sacrifice them, but for the most part, it is implied that they are all living in a twisted harmony together. However, just before Ethan Winters arrived, the village was suddenly attacked by Lycans, leaving many confused about why Miranda decided to attack them. Maybe the DLC could explore the village before everything went to hell and even show why Mother Miranda turned on them, with the DLC also potentially giving players even more of the fan-favorite Lady Dimitrescu.
The Return of Jill Valentine
Resident Evilfans last saw Jill Valentine in 2020’s remake ofResident Evil 3and 2012’sResident Evil Revelations. However, in the franchise timeline, Jill Valentine was last seen inResident Evil 5after being held against her will by Albert Wesker. Since then, the only information about her was that she remains in BSAA’s labs to undergo rehabilitation. Given thatJill Valentine is still one of the most popular characters inResident Evil, many are anticipating her return. While unlikely, there is a minute chance that she could appear inResident Evil Village’sDLC, especially since Jill’s voice actor from theRE3remake also provided voice work for Daniella Dimitescu.
While Jill has no direct involvement in-game,she still has one connection inResident Evil Village: Chris Redfield. It is worth remembering that Chris and Jill were the first-ever playable characters in theResident Evilseries, and succeeding games highlighted the partnership between them. Given thatResident Evil Villagerevealed that Chris is not a villain, it would be interesting to see Jill appear in the DLC as a setup for her possible return in a futureResident Evilgame.

Resident Evil Villageis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. A DLC is currently in development.
