Resident Evil Villagehas fans excited in more ways than one. The core gameplay is already looking to be delightfully scary based off ofthe PS5-exclusive Maiden demo, but beyond that, the brand new character of LadyDimitrescuhas struck a chord with fans. Capcom has caught onto this character’s fittingly enormous popularity and released a statement revealing her height.

While Lady Dimitrescu was teased earlier in the marketing cycle of the game, her popularity reached new heights afterthe recentResident EvilShowcasegave her some major screentime. While her origins and backstory are still mysterious, fans now know that she is serving a greater force named ‘Mother Miranda,’ who needs Ethan Winters to be hunted down for an unknown reason. Furthermore, theMaidendemo revealed that she will hunt the player down throughout the level, continually mocking them as she comes closer and closer. Fans were instantly excited and terrified by this character, especially with how unique she is to the series.

In this Twitter statement, art director Tomonori Takano acknowledgedLadyDimitrescu’s instantaneous popularity, thanking fans for their love and support surrounding the character. Alongside this, he cheekily teased fans by revealing the character’s massive height. Counting her heels and hat, Lady Dimitrescu is approximately 2.9 meters tall, or 9 feet and 6 inches tall. For reference,Resident Evil Villageprotagonist Ethan Winters is 5'11'', making him 4 feet and 7 inches shorter than the main antagonist. This height difference will likely lead to some terrifying encounters in the full game.

Lady Dimitrescu is already such an iconic character, especially with how much she stands out from previousResident Evilantagonists. While Mr. X and Nemesis are beloved among fans, they are much more monstrous in nature, unlike Lady Dimitrescu who is a bit more humanoid.  This humanoid nature juxtaposes with her gigantic height and her retractable claws, creating an incredibly uncanny feeling when she does manage to track the player down. It’s no surprise that she has immediately amassed a large fanbase, so much so that Capcom would comment on her popularity.

Overall,Resident Evil Villageis shaping up to be a fantastic horror title. After the critical acclaim ofResident Evil 7, Capcom seems to be taking the best parts of that release and expanding upon them tenfold in this successor. On top of acting as a sequel to7, the village setting is reminding many fans ofResident Evil 4, which is currently one of the most beloved releases in the series. The combination of these successful elements, and a giant woman, should make for one of the most interesting releases of 2021.

Resident Evil Villageis releasing on May 7th, 2021, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
