A team of researchers has discovered thatRobloxis the most searched online game in the world.Roblox, which boasts 190 million average monthly players, has been significantly searched online for an unexpected reason.
Researchers from Student Beans have been gathering data on the world’s most popular games by analyzing average monthly search volumes from 24 countries. Based on the Student Beans data, the most popular titles around the world includeFortnite,PUBG,League of Legends, andRoblox. Countries that specifically attribute the number one position toRobloxrange from Canada, the US, Brazil, and Mexico to Australia, Italy, Ukraine, and Thailand; but according to the data, many of theRobloxsearches occurred for a strange reason.

Student Beans has discovered that the search term “isRobloxdown?” amasses an average of 246,000 searches each month because of how regularly the game goes offline. On top of that, Student Beans found “areRobloxhackers real?” as a search term that increased by 1,000% in recent months, withRobloxhackerspotentially causing the constant outages through regular attacks.Robloxplayers reported 36,000 outages in the month of May alone, the majority of which occurred on May 4 when the game went offline 20,000 times in just 24 hours.
The countries that searchedRobloxthe most in Student Beans' research are the UK with 3,350,000 searches each month, Canada at 2,240,000, and the US with 13,600,000. A concerning search term forRobloxfans that Student Beans came across in its research was “isRobloxbeing deleted in 2023,” which surged by 255% during the data gathering process and may be the result of players that are frustrated byRobloxgoing downrepeatedly.Robloxcontinues to receive about 500 outage reports each day with no signs of stopping which suggests thatRobloxmay need to switch to a different engine or adopt stronger security if the outages are in fact caused by hackers.
Typically looking at gaming-related search terms shows a wide breadth of content like reviews, fan art, concept videos, plot theories, and much more, but Roblox Corporation may be surprised that so manyRobloxsearches are about the outages. Although Roblox Corporation may be aware of the regular outages, it’s currently unclear what the developer intends to do to lower the number of times the game goes offline.
