In recent years especially, Nintendo has had an unfortunate habit of announcing AAA games, only to go radio silent on them for several years afterwards. One of which beingBayonetta 3, a game that was announced nearly four years ago that has yet to receive any sort of substantial update. Though, there is a slim possibility thatBayonetta 3could receive new information very soon.
While there have been numerous smalldevelopment status updates forBayonetta 3over the years, there sadly has been next to no new information released in terms of the game. Other than the brief trailer that was unveiled at The Game Awards back in 2017, there’s been barely any sort of indication as to when fans could expect to seeBayonetta 3released. However, an observation was made while scrolling the Nintendo eShop that might hint at a more sizeable update.

A reporter over at Nintendo Life noticed that the front page of the Nintendo eShop, which is usually reserved for new game arrivals, now features bothBayonettainstallments prominently below newly released games likeEastwardandWarioWare: Get it Together! It’s important to keep in mind that bothBayonetta 1and2were released on the Nintendo Switch over three years ago, so to have both games on the front page of the eShop does seem to indicate that something might be coming.
Then again, this also does not guarentee thatBayonetta 3will be shown off anytime soon. Given that the development of games likeMetroid Prime 4have been confirmed to be in development, but haven’t received any sort of update since the initial announcement, it’s almost certain thatBayonetta 3won’t be discussed at length in the immediate future.
For the longest time, many fans actually assumed thatBayonetta 3had been cancelled or forgotten about, for whichBayonetta 3director Hideki Kamiyawas understandably irritated. However, at the same time, those fan complaints aren’t entirely unfounded either, considering that the game was announced almost four years ago and there hasn’t been anything to go on in that time, other than the occasional reminder thatBayonetta 3is still in development.
In all fairness, it is possible that the Platinum Games just needs more time to iron outBayonetta 3before it can be shown off. Not to mention thatMetroid Dreadwas first conceived in the mid-2000s, only to be officially released over a decade afterwards. Right now, the only thing fans can do is wait and hope that the development studio will deliver an excellent product that’s well worth the wait.
