Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s first free multiplayer weekend will reportedly happen in December, according to a new report by reputable insider and leaker Tom Henderson. TheCall of Dutygames are consistently the best-selling games every year, but they can always win over potential new customers through their free multiplayer weekends.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is the latest entry in the long-running series. Serving as a direct sequel to the 2019Modern Warfarereboot,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaignpicks up the story where that game left off. While there are those who likeCall of Dutycampaigns, the big draw is, as always, the online multiplayer component.Modern Warfare 2delivers the traditionalCall of Dutymultiplayer experience with a new set of maps and modes for players to try out.

Those that have yet to purchaseModern Warfare 2may soon have the chance to try the multiplayer free of charge. Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming believes that the first freeModern Warfare 2multiplayer weekend will take place from December 15 to December 19. This will come hot off the heels of theModern Warfare 2Season 1 Reloaded update, which is expected to drop on December 14. However, an official announcement about the firstModern Warfare 2free multiplayer weekend has not been announced at the time of this writing, and so fans should take the information with a grain of salt for now.

Modern Warfare 2Season 1 just started on November 16, coinciding with the release of the highly-anticipatedCall of Duty: Warzone 2battle royale and its DMZ game mode. In terms of the core multiplayer experience, Season 1 also saw the addition of thefan favorite Shoot House mapto the lineup. Shoot House was featured in the 2019Modern Warfaregame and proved to be one of that game’s most popular maps.

Shoot House was often paired with Shipment in the 2019Modern Warfaregame in special “Shoot the Ship” playlists, and as it turns out, the maps may have a reunion soon. It’s already been confirmed thatShipment is coming toModern Warfare 2, though it’s unclear when exactly it will drop. It seems likely that it will be added as part of the Season 1 Reloaded update, but that has not been confirmed at the time of this writing.
