The Witcher: Codename Siriusis seemingly due to feature co-op if recent job listings at CD Projekt Red are anything to go by.Siriusis one of severalWitcherprojects that CD Projekt Red has in development following the crash and subsequent revival ofCyberpunk 2077, led by The Molasses Flood.
CD Projekt Red’s trilogy based on the world of Andrzej Sapkowski ended withThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which offered a conclusion to Geralt of Rivia’s journey. Since then, CD Projekt Red has released the niche butcritically-acclaimedThronebreaker: The Witcher TalesandCyberpunk 2077, a far-from-niche open-world shooter that incited one of the worst commercial disasters of recent gaming history. Several years, patches, and a universally adored anime adaptation later and theCyberpunkname is repairing its reputation piece by piece, but CDPR developers are seemingly keen to be returning to theWitcherfranchise. One of the projects in development is known asSirius.

Links to recent job listings at CD Projekt Red were posted in a Reddit thread by Awkward96 and suggest thatSiriuswill feature “co-op, PvE, a class system, multiple game modes, and social activities.” Other openings include a Senior Combat Designer, Narrative Director, and Technical Game Designer which seek someone capable of delivering various types of enemies, non-linear storytelling, and procedurally generated systems respectively. It was already stated thatSiriuswould feature multiplayer, something thatCD Projekt Red has been increasingly building towardin recent years.
Comments theorized that this could lead to a gameplay experience reminiscent ofThe Divisionbut focused on monster slaying. The Molasses Flood haspreviously developedThe Flame in the FloodandDrake Hollow, two games that focus on crafting, exploration, and survival. The latter release includes online co-op, which will hopefully prove to be an invaluable experience for a cooperativeWitcherexperience.
CD Projekt Red is due to be overseeing the development ofSirius, and it is not the publisher’s first attempt at an online game.Gwent: The Witcher Card Gamewas born out of the popularity ofThe Witcher 3’s mini-game and has hosted countless competitions over the years. It was sadly announced late last year that there would beno new cards or content added toGwent: The Witcher Card Gamein 2024, but many from the development team are likely to be reassigned to otherWitcherprojects as has already occurred.
