Summary
The next major Nintendo franchise to receive a series ofLEGOsets may have leaked early. Nintendo andLEGO’s partnership has blossomed into something very exciting and undeniably popular, too. Sets for all ages, including digitally-enabledSuper Mariosets and throwback Nintendo Entertainment System sets, continue to sell well at LEGO stores across the country. It’s not so surprising that Nintendo would seek to bring more of its properties to LEGO, but the next set might surprise fans.
So far, Nintendo and LEGO’s partnership has been surprisingly conservative. Sets are selling very well, but onlyMariohas received robust support with dozens of different sets, small and large. Most of these sets have been a part of theSuper Mario Adventuresseries. Others include the NES set, theSuper Mario 64mystery block set, and the Mighty Bowser set. Fans have pushed for other Nintendo franchises to also be featured.

The latest leaks from reliable leaker exabrickslegogo appear to confirm that a new Nintendo franchise will soon be getting a series of LEGO sets. It’s notThe Legend of Zeldaand it’s notPokemon. It’s the increasingly popularAnimal Crossingfranchise, which had its most popular releaseAnimal Crossing: New Horizonslaunched in 2020. TheAnimal Crossingseries of LEGO sets is said to arrive starting in March 2024.
As noted,Animal Crossingisn’t receiving just a single LEGO set. The leak claims it will have a full series of sets, for five differently-priced sets in total. The sets are priced between $14.99 and $74.99, with the most expensive set featuring a healthy 535 pieces. The pricing and piece totals hint that theAnimal CrossingLEGO sets will be closer to theSuper Mariosets, rather than the larger andmore expensive adult-focused Nintendo sets.
It’s easy to see whyAnimal Crossingwould be Nintendo’s next choice to partner with LEGO. It’s not only an incredibly popular franchise, but also seems age appropriate for LEGO’s typical young audience. WhileThe Legend of Zeldaand other Nintendo franchiseswould also be great to see, Nintendo may believeAnimal Crossingwill sell more LEGO sets. Perhaps those other franchises will get LEGO sets down the line.
The leaker behind theAnimal CrossingLEGO set news is incredibly reliable, to a point that it’s a stretch to call this a rumor. Nevertheless, neither Nintendo nor LEGO has officially announced these series. As such, they’re subject to change. Expect official news on future NintendoLEGOprojects in the near future.
