While many video games focus on a single protagonist, theResident Evilfranchise has featured multiple playable characters from the start. The firstResident Evilgame featured Chris Redfield andJill Valentineas the main playable characters, whereasResident Evil 2had Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Throughout the course of the franchise, the bulk of the main seriesResident Evilgames have featured at least two, if not more, playable characters, and it seems that will possibly hold true for the leakedResident Evil: Outrageas well.

Resident Evil: Outragewas outed by the Capcom ransomware attack, and its existence has since been backed up by reputableResident Evilleaker AestheticGamer. They believe thatResident Evil: Outragewill be a timed-Switch exclusive game that will likely feature Rebecca Chambers as the main character. However, they have also heard that the game will have a second playable character in the form of fan favorite Leon S. Kennedy.

AestheticGamer stressed that this information does not come from their own sources and so fans should take it with a grain of salt.Biohazard: The Stage, a play that seems to be inspiring theResident Evil: Outrageplot if the leaks are accurate, featured bothRebecca Chambersand Chris Redfield, so it wouldn’t be surprising for the game to have a second playable character as well, even if it’s Leon instead of Chris.

Throughout theResident Evilgames, Rebecca has had far more interactions with Chris than she has had with Leon. In fact, the firstResident Evilgame saw Chris and Rebecca run into each other in the mansion, with players even having to take control of Rebecca for a brief period to cure Chris of poison. Rebecca and Chris appear together again in the aforementionedBiohazard: The Stageplay, and she appears in theResident Evil: VendettaCG filmalongside both Chris and Leon.

One reason why Capcom may decide to go with Leon instead of Chris inResident Evil: Outrageis due to Chris having just appeared inResident Evil Village. Chris Redfield is a major character in the ongoingResident Evilstoryline, whereas Leon is nowhere to be seen. Having Chris involved with the events ofResident Evil: Outragecould only serve to muddy the story Capcom is trying to tell withResident Evil 7,Village, and theinevitableResident Evil 9.

Of course, all of this is just speculation at this time, and it’s speculation about an unannounced game at that. While the evidence is certainly pointing in the direction ofResident Evil: Outragebeing a legitimate game, it remains to be seen if any of the leaks about it are truly accurate. Fans will have to wait forCapcom to properly revealResident Evil: Outragebefore they’ll know anymore about the project.

Resident Evil: Outrageis rumored to be in development for the Nintendo Switch.
