It’s been a while since aBandai Namcoreleased a new IP that was this successful. That’s from a press standpoint as reviews across the board are pretty high. Whether that translates into sales is another question entirely.

Bandai Namco might be able to boost those scores and sales numbers more if they fixed a few things in theScarlet Nexus. To their credit, Bandai Namco has already released patches for the game which helped it run better on most systems, not that there was a major problem before. These are just a few quality of life things that could improve the experienceevenmore.
10Remove Subtitles
Having subtitles in the manga like cutscenes is one thing but it’s another story in the actual cinematics. Seeing text on the screen when there are epic battles going down can distracting. Most games not only feature the ability to turn subtitles off but also ways to shrink or enlarge them. Both features would be nice to see in an update forScarlet Nexus.
9Add A Photo Mode
Scarlet Nexususes the anime cel-shading style well. The backgrounds may not be the most developed but the actual human characters and special effects really pop. This is especially true on the new consoles like the PS5 which has HDR. It is unfortunate then that the game did not launchwith a photo mode.Scarlet Nexusneeds it desperately in order to capture just how good it can look at times.
8Allow Players To Save Anywhere
Modern games seem to be split between using archaic methods of save points versus allowing players to save anywhere.Scarlet Nexushas an auto-save feature along with dedicated save points. These save points are also where the players can shop for goods.

It is convenient that they are combined with the shop and there are quite a few saves sprinkled around each dungeon. Even with the amount that is there, it would be nice to also be able to save anywhere.
7Better Cutscenes
The manga-style dialogue boxes do look aesthetically cool. They are better than reading still images ingames likeDisgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny. If this type of cutscene was predominantly used for text between characters, it would be fine.
However, it’s used for about 75% of the cutscenes, even the ones featuring action. It seems likeScarlet Nexus’budget got cut somewhere in development. Asking to get these scenes redone in a patch is a lot to ask for but maybe it’s in the realm of possibilities.

6Make Quests More Noticeable
Except for quests that correlate to companion bonding episodes, the normal quests inScarlet Nexusare pretty standardfetch quests. There’s nothing wrong with quests like these in games but it would be nice if they were highlighted better in towns.
Right now quest givers have white bubbles above their heads. They look the same as normal NPCs so it’s hard to tell the difference. A simple addition of color would help.

5Turn Brain Drive Into A Button Prompt
Brain Drive unlocks after a couple of hours inScarlet Nexus. This is sort of like a Limit Break in aFinal Fantasygamewherein Yuito or Kasane gets a short burst of power for a limited time.
It is unfortunately automatic in the game right now. This can happen at the most inopportune times like the end of a battle, thus wasting the Brain Drive’s potential. It would be more convenient for players if a button prompt was added instead.

4Create A Companion Bond Meter
The companion bonding system inScarlet Nexusis less complicated than somethinglikePersona 5 Royal’sSocial Links. Bonding episodes are automatic between chapters of the game.
There is another bonding exercise that can get raised through spending time with companions in battle and or giving them gifts. There is no meter to show how much someone has bonded with another right now. Placing one in the game might defeat the mystery, but it would be very much appreciated.

3First-Person Mode In The Hideout
One of the best things about giving gifts to companions is that these items appear in the hideout. The more one gives, the fuller the hideout will become which gives it a nice lived-in look. It adds to an already stacked amount of style inScarlet Nexus.

Unfortunately, there is no way to fully take in the art of these items through a first-person mode. If that photo mode makes it in then that would be another solution to this issue.
2Item Limits
There are two sets of item limits inScarlet Nexusthat can be inconvenient. The first of which is the item limit in battle. For example, players can only have ten of the Light Jelly healing items. The reason why this and the other usable items are limited in battle is to balance the game.
If players could spam healing items then this gamewould be too easy. Why this applies to wishlists in the shop exchange menu is a mystery. It should be upgraded from ten to twenty or above at least.

1Equipment Optimization
Players are bound to get a lot of gear inScarlet Nexus. It’s not a loot-based game likeDestiny II, but there will be plenty of items in the dungeons. It can be difficult to sift through equipment at times so it would be great if there was an optimization button in the character menus. Many RPGs have something like this including most, if not all,Final Fantasygames.
