To say thatThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimcontains a few bugs would be something of an understatement. Even asone of the highest-grossing video games of the last decade, and the fact that it continues to be re-released by the developer, much to the dismay of fans wanting a new installment in the series, there is a litany of glitches that cover the land of Tamriel. While there are those which are more of a real problem, breaking the game and its immersion, there are many which are harmless and mirthful.
Uploading a brief clip to theSkyrimSubreddit recently, user Sherlock_DaVinci has shown that it’s possible for the Dragonborn to become a different beast all-together. The 15-second video shows that the player has, through some coding mishap no doubt, been turned into a horse. The user doesn’t say how this happened or whether the issue was resolved, but what can be seen is the creature galloping around the snowy landscape, as though nothing is out of the ordinary. What seems to have happened, according to the original poster, was their protagonist “floated away” but the camera was left pointing at the horse and leaving them in control of it.

Wild animals are often the subject of in-game tomfoolery when it comes toThe Elder Scrolls. Another player spotted anotherhorse inSkyrimflying among dragons. In itself, that’s quite an immersion-breaking bug, so at least Sherlock_DaVinci’s instance just seems to showcase a regular horse running around. Of course, it’s still a glitch and with the player now no longer a human character, it remains to be seen whether they would be able to continue with the game properly or not.
Such examples are just a tiny fraction of the bugs that fans have been documenting since the game launched more than ten years ago, with people often joking that it’s not so much a bug, and more of a “feature.” Even theSkyrim Anniversary Editionhas a number of game-breaking glitches, which is surprising given how long the vanilla release has been out and this is the supposed to be an improved version of the epic RPG.
Issues aside, it’s stillone of Bethesda’s highest-selling games to date, so any problems that fans bump into don’t seem to harm its reputation too much. In fact, if anything, it’s the string of bugs that make it something of a meme among the community. For this reason alone, maybe the studio has no real incentive to fix the less devastating glitches.
