In the world of gaming, digital food can often be overshadowed by all the other elements, such as the story, or host of characters. Although there are somevideo games that do have iconic food items such as Nuka-Cola fromFallout, much of it is not always germane to a player’s quest. Unless playing in survival mode inThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, food is just another aspect that makes the world believable. But in the modding community, a couple of people have tried to modernize the way the Dragonborn can go about acquiring sustenance.

Recently uploading the file to Nexus Mods, a couple of users who go by hrodeberht1 and bella have created a mod forSkyrimthat marries the fantastical world of magic and talking dragons to the more earthy realism of a modern fast food restaurant. Called “Burger Jarl,” this mod adds a burger joint to the world of Tamriel, designed for the “adventurer on-the-go.” It consists of a complete food and drinks menu, such as cheeseburgers, milkshakes, a cola alternative, chicken nuggets, and something called a Big Jarl, which seems to be a larger cheeseburger. There’s even a vegetarian option.

For anyone who is keen to try it out, once downloaded, Burger Jarl can be found between Whiterun and Rorikstead. The description says that the restaurant is located nearBroken Fang Cave which is one of the fishing sites. As well as serving all manner of fast food, the mod is also said to include a ride-thru stall for the player who hasn’t got time to go in, as well as “stupid mascots.” The add-on is also compatible with survival mode, according to the creators.

While there are someweird mods out there forSkyrim, this one does have some practical elements to it, especially for those playing in the much more challenging survival mode. While there’s only one location so far, it would be interesting to see whether the modders add more franchises across the land, making it possible for the Dragonborn to get a burger and fries much more easily while out and about.

With theAnniversary Edition being released last November, to celebrate the game being ten years old, it seems evident that Bethesda wishes to get as much mileage out of this decade-old entry as it can. While many are eagerly awaiting word onThe Elder Scrolls 6, there is so much more content that is being created forSkyrimthat is helping to keep the game fresh and in the limelight.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
