Elden Ringhas been out for long enough now that any fans who have had an opportunity to play it have likely beaten it one or more times.Elden Ring’s length is deceptiveat the beginning when the player’s map is shrouded and obscured, and an average, casual playthrough may take upwards of a hundred hours to complete, depending on how much players explore.

Then, beating the game is only part of its longevity asFromSoftware games commonly feature multiple endingsthat players can achieve. All endings have likely been exhausted by devoted players at this point in time, and preferences to which endings are liked best are sure to be a large topic of discussion. But from branching questlines that appear and certain NPCs players will not even see if they are not following particular paths, some fans feel short-changed when it comes to their achieved endings.

Redditor u/DaviMessias15 puts forth what they believe to be an unpopular opinion when they say they thinkElden Ring’s endingsare too short. In particular, DaviMessias15 believes that they are too short relative to how long the game is, with each ending only consisting of a cutscene that lasts for less than a minute. Other fans have since offered their shared thoughts on DaviMessias15’s opinion, stating which endings they found the most satisfying and how they appreciateElden Ring’s arduous journey more than how it may end.

For example, players seem collectively dissatisfied withElden Ring’s default or base ending, where they are simply treated to a shot of their character avatar sitting on the throne atop Leyndell. Other fans believe some endings are too similar to one another without enough distinguishable dialogue or cutscene content to make them feel impactful or meaningful after having toiled to achieve its rigorous guidelines for completion.

That is why the consensus among fans discerns thatElden Ring’s Lord of the Frenzied Flame and Age of Stars endingsare generally the most favorable since they offer the most drastic and involved conclusions with the most significant changes dealt toElden Ring’s world as a result. However, fans also lament how many questlines players are tasked to slay befriended NPCs whom they have grown to adore. These characters may be kept alive otherwise if players pursue a different ending, but then interactions with them are far fewer.

Some players even suggest that a brief montage of NPC epilogues would have been satisfactory to see what becomes of any notable, surviving characters. But as others suggest, this would be unlike FromSoftware and these endings, although short, are still relatively similar in length to the multiple optional endings players achieve in previous FromSoftware games as well.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Series X/S.
