BothFinal Fantasy 7 Remake IntergradeandResident Evil Villageare already mere months from release. With fans hungry for any new information, Sony has announced a PlayStation Presents livestream that will feature news on both of these titles.

This event is different fromSony’s usual State of Play livestreams, instead being called “Play! Play! Play!” This stream will take place on August 01, 2025, lasting from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Japan standard time. For those in the United States, that means the event will start at 7:00 a.m. EST, so some caffeine might be necessary for American fans to watch this early morning stream.

The only confirmed features at this event areFinal Fantasy 7 Remake IntergradeandResident Evil Village, so these two games will likely take up the bulk of the presentation. TheFinal Fantasyportion will be hosted by the game’s producer, Yoshinori Kitase, as well as Japanese celebrity Hatsune Matsushima and MC Takuya Nakamura. TheResident Evilportion will be hosted by the game’s director, Morimasa Sato, as well as Japanese model Kayo Satoh and Matsushima as MC.

It hasn’t been said what exactly will be shown off for each game, but it would make sense for new gameplay to be presented in some form. ForFinal Fantasy, Square Enix will hopefully show footage of thebrand new Yuffie episode, giving viewers an in-depth look at the gameplay. Showing off the combat ability of Yuffie, or her new partner Sonon Kusakabe, could be an exciting reveal for fans.

ForResident Evil, Capcom will hopefully show off more of the tense gameplay, likely including an appearance from thegame’s breakout star Lady Dimitrescu. WhileResident Evil Villagegot a demo several months ago, the game is likely still holding many secrets, so one can hope for a peek at what other scary events are to come.

Sony Japan hosting an event for two major games is an interesting move considering that itsJapan Studio is currently being downsized. The PlayStation 5 generation has seemingly shifted away from a Japanese focus, even further than during the PS4 era. While third parties such as Square Enix and Capcom are still being highlighted, it is a shame that this may be coming at the cost of Sony’s lineup of Japanese first parties, such asGravity RushorApe Escape. Hopefully, Sony can one day strike a balance between a Japanese and western focus.

Resident Evil Villageis releasing on August 04, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
