A recent report from Sony confirms thatMarvel’s Spider-Man 2is still set to launch later this year. The sequel to Insomniac’sMarvel’s Spider-Mangame was confirmed at a Sony PlayStation Showcase event way back in September 2021, with an excitingMarvel’s Spider-Man 2teaser trailerfeaturing Peter Parker and Miles Morales facing off against the fearsome Venom for the first time in this universe.
Since then, things have been fairly quiet regardingMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, leaving fans to worry if the highly anticipated superhero action title could be delayed. Insomniac later assured these anxious players that this isn’t the case, and recent updates fromMarvel’s Spider-Man 2actors like Yuri Lowenthaland Tony Todd have suggested that the game is progressing well and could come out as early as September. Still, nothing official has been confirmed aboutMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s launch save that it is happening sometime later this year, and the fact remains that there hasn’t been any new footage of the game in almost two years.

A new update from Sony has provided further reassurance thatMarvel’s Spider-Man 2will swing onto the PlayStation 5 later this year as previously reported. Earlier this week, Sony released its 2022 fiscal year consolidated earnings report, and tucked away is a brief mention ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2that reiterates its 2023 launch window.
Even though there hasn’t been anewSpider-Man 2traileryet, marketing for the game has slowly started to pick up in countries like Malaysia - where an actual webbed-up car appeared in March as part of Sony’s Live from PS5 ad campaign. Venom actor Tony Todd has also hinted that ads forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2could start to appear in August, but he has since pulled back on those claims along with his suggestion that the game could be released in September.
With 2023 already nearing the middle of the year without any new footage or anofficial street date forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, it could be easy for some fans to forget that the game is set to release this fall. However, both Sony and Insomniac have remained steadfast in their assertions that this is indeed the plan for Insomniac’s next open-world superhero extravaganza, as evidenced by the game’s latest mention in Sony’s 2022 earnings report. PerhapsMarvel’s Spider-Man 2will appear in the next PlayStation Showcase livestream, which is rumored to be taking place sometime in the summer.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is scheduled to release in fall 2023 for PS5.
