Summary

The firstStarfieldmod that adds a variety of glasses to the game—thus addressing one common complaint among the fandom—has been released. Its arrival further expands the fast-growing list ofamazingStarfieldmodsthat surfaced online since the game’s September debut.

While Bethesda’s latest title is in no way lacking in compelling content, the developer still had to draw the line somewhere in terms of what would and wouldn’t make its way to the game. Glasses ended up falling into the latter category, much to the disappointment of some of the players, who have been taking to social media tobemoan this omission fromStarfield, labeling it as everything from strange to immersion-breaking.

The PC gamers among the fans who hold such opinions can finally fix this perceived shortcoming thanks to a newStarfieldGlasses mod by TheEnco. This prolific modder did an admirable job addressing the lack of eyewear in Bethesda’s galaxy-hopping RPG, having extended it with the addition of nine types of glasses. Each of those can come in eight different colors, for a total of 72 possible accessory combinations.

While Nexus Mods user SniperNamedG was technically the first to add glasses toStarfieldback in mid-October, they did so by simply retexturing the Neuroboost Mark 3, a face implant that can be found throughout the Settled Systems. In contrast, every piece of eyewear made by TheEnco is a new item, with their mod thus only adding to Bethesda’s hit game instead of changing its existing content. Installing it will add its custom eyewear selection to the inventories of in-game vendors, while also allowing players to recolor the included glasses by using any Spacesuit Workbench.

Starfield Glasses Mod by TheEnco Overview

TheEnco’s Glasses mod has but a single dependency in the form of Plugins.txt Enabler, anotherStarfieldmod that extends the game with support for the so-called master files in the vein of ESM mods forSkyrim. That modification, in turn, depends on the Starfield Script Extender (SFSE), putting this mod out of reach of PC Game Pass users. For clarity,SFSE only works with theStarfieldSteam executable, which is one big advantage that this version of the game has over its PC Game Pass counterpart.

Players who aren’t keen on handling the mod’s dependency tree manually are advised to delegate that responsibility to a mod manager such as Mod Organizer 2 (MO2) or Nexus Mods' very own Vortex app. Either of those programs will allow PC gamers to install this newly releasedStarfieldGlasses mod in just a few clicks. More impressive community content for the game is expected to roll out in the coming months, especially after Bethesda launchesStarfield’s official mod toolsin early 2024.
