Rocksteady has been tight-lipped aboutSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but there are details fans can discern from what is not shown either. It is interesting to note what Rocksteady has and has not revealed at this point—particularly, which characters have been unveiled and which have not. In terms ofSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s titular Justice League antagonists, fans have now seen Superman, Green Lantern, and Flash, while Wonder Woman appears to be unaffected by Brainiac. However, there may be many more antagonists that have not yet been revealed.

Of course,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguemay be one big boss-rush gamewith hordes of Brainiac minions in-between. Little has been revealed aboutSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s core gameplay loop, and therefore it is difficult to tell what players will be doing for the bulk of open world activities in Metropolis. This could suggest that there are many activities to do with Brainiac hordes, but that could become stale quickly. Instead,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguewill hopefully have additional contracts assigned by Amanda Waller that could serve as side quests.

In order to fill out its open world with more than an unending wave of purple aliens,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueneeds to have side contracts that enlist Task Force X to take out or apprehend other threats. This could be issued easily through communications with Waller and ARGUS while players are out and about, and it would be fascinating to see Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark interacting with more characters outside who fans have already seen.

The Justice League is obviously a huge allure, but having other antagonists and enemies would be a logical way to flesh outSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s open-world Metropolis. This could include quests that have players exploring exclusively, but it could also result in additional and optional boss fights that players would not see otherwise.

Likewise, it would be interesting to see if districts in Metropolis can be cleared of their Brainiac occupancy enough to have other characters move in and make each area reactive. Metropolis is depicted to look like a bustling cosmopolitan city that is teeming with life, butSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguewill likely not have pedestrians return to their home if Rocksteady’s open-world pattern of deserted streets is to be followed.

In this sense, the term antagonist or villain is only in reference to the characters that Task Force X may encounter and fight. Other heroes could potentially appear as antagonists, for example, and though they are normally perceived as protagonists, they may not be that way inSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. If Green Arrow, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter, or Aquaman are introduced, it is possible that they could be brainwashed as well and fought. That said, it is maybe more likely that other criminals will composeSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s roster of side villains.

Rocksteady has no shortage of antagonists to choose from, whether they are iconic and big-name characters or street-level goons that Batman has put away multiple times. It is true that the game does not take place in Gotham City, butPenguin appearing inSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s Metropolisdemonstrates that any antagonist could feasibly appear for one reason or another.

Task Force X seems like a poor match for the Justice League, but could thwart criminals such as Deathstroke, Firefly, or Zsasz. Further, there is already confirmation that one iconic antagonist is relevant in the Arkhamverse, alluding to the idea thatLex Luthor could appear inSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueis scheduled to release in early 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
