Gen 6 ofPokémon GOwill hopefully be released at some point this summer, but until then we can examine the Pokémon set to be released. The (predicted)strongest Pokémon in Gen 6list is available; however, this list will instead focus on those Pokémon that will have only a single use outside of completing the Pokédex.

That use is competing in the Great League with its CP cap of 1500, and this only applies to the #10 and #9 entries. The stats given for the Pokémon below are the maximum normally attainable and subject to change. Gen 6 Pokémon do not have an assigned move-list yet; so this list will give probable moves for each, as well as how effective those moves are inPokémon GO.
10Aegislash
Aegislash is a Steel/Ghost type Pokémon with two forms in the main series – Shield Form and Blade Form. The Form is determined on the last move Aegislash used. As there aren’t really “defensive” moves inPokémon GO, it will be interesting to see how this will be implemented. It’s possible using a shield will cause Aegislash to switch to Shield Form. It has a CP of 1595, an attack of 97 (or 291 depending on Form), a defense of 291 (97), and a stamina of 155. A possible fast move for Aegislash might be Tackle; Hyper Beam might be a possible charge move.
9Carbink
Carbink is a Rock/Fairy type Pokémon that, like Aegislash, might see some use in the Great League. Aside from that there really isn’t a reason to use Carbink. It has a CP of 1467, an attack of 95, a defense of 285, and a stamina of 137. The top tier defensive rating is more than overshadowed by the awful attack and stamina ratings. Smack Down is a probable fast move, and not a bad one either. The powerful charge move Moonblast will hopefully be available to Carbink.
8Talonflame
Talonflame is a Fire/Flying type Pokémon that is not bad for a bird Pokémon – unfortunately, that isn’t saying much. Being one of the better bird Pokémon usually means that Pokémon is a little below average compared to the rest. Talonflame is no different in this regard.

Talonflame has a CP of 2205, an attack of 176, a defense of 155, and a stamina of 186. It learns Peck and Ember in the main game, so it is likely those will be options inPokémon GOfor a fast move. Both are similar in terms of DPS and recharge time, but Ember gives more energy. Brave Bird and Flame Charge are probable charge moves; Brave bird is pretty strong.
7Slurpuff
Slurpuff is a Fairy type Pokémon that resembles an anthropomorphized scoop of ice cream with a cherry on top. The only redeeming quality of this Pokémon is that it might be alright against weaker Dragon types (with serious emphasis on “weaker”). There are much better Fairy types a player can use against Dragons. It has a CP of 2199, an attack of 168, a defense of 163, and a stamina of 193. Tackle is the only fast move Slurpuff shares with the main series. Draining Kiss and Play Rough are probable charge moves; Play rough is the better of the two.
6Meowstic
Meowstic is a cat-like Psychic type Pokémon that will likely have a long list of possible strong move-sets. The problem is its below average stats won’t allow it to make the most of these move-sets. If a player keeps Meowstic under the CP limit it might be useful in the Great League. It has a CP of 2124, an attack of 166, a defense of 167, and a stamina of 179. Charm and Confusion are strong fast moves that Meowstic is likely to get. Psychic and Disarming Voice are likely charge moves. Disarming Voice has a very favorable ratio of damage-per-energy.
5Furfrou
Furfrou is a canineNormal type Pokémonthat is obviously based on a French poodle. Furfrou has the same problem that Meowstic has (perhaps a little less so); it will have low stats that will probably be paired with some great possible move-sets. It has a CP of 2111, an attack of 164, a defense of 167, and a stamina of 181. Its only weakness is to Fighting type moves, and it is super resistant to Ghost type moves. It can learn Sucker Punch and Bite in the main series, making them likely fast moves. Sucker Punch is one of the better fast moves. There aren’t any charge moves that Furfrou learns in the main series – so there’s no telling what it will get in Pokémon GO. It can learn Return and Giga Impact via TM.
4Klefki
Klefki is an odd Steel/Fairy type Pokémon that resembles a keyring with various keys and accessories attached. This Pokémon’s lengthy list of resistances do not compensate for its prohibitively low stats. It has a CP of 1949, an attack of 160, a defense of 179, and a stamina of 149.

It is super resistant to Dragon and Bug moves and resistant to nine other moves types. Klefki might have Astonish inPokémon GOas a fast move; which might actually move Klefki up an entry or two on list this. Draining Kiss, Play Rough, Mirror Shot, and Foul Play are possible charge moves; hopefully Play Rough and Foul Play are chosen over the others.
3Dedenne
Dedenne is a mouse-like Electric/Fairy type Pokémon that looks like a baby Pikachu – and fights like one too. This Pokémon is the fourth Fairy type to make this list. Gen 6 doesn’t look promising for fans of Fairy types. Dedenne has a CP of 1841, an attack of 164, a defense of 134, and a stamina of 167. This cute little Pokémon has some good resistances, and it will need them with its dismal defense and stamina ratings. Aside from Charm, other probable fast moves are Volt Switch and Thunder Shock. Rest, Thunder, and Play Rough are possible charge moves. Thunder has a high DPS, but a longer recharge time.
2Diggersby
Diggersby is a rabbit-like Normal/Ground type Pokémon that with one more evolutionary step would be worth training. In the main series Diggersby learns a lot of moves, so it’s likely to have a variety of good choices for its fast and charge moves. The problem is Diggersby’s extremely low attack rating, along with its weakness to popular move/Pokémon types like Fighting, Ice, and Water. It has a CP of 1509, an attack of 112, a defense of 155, and a stamina of 198. Mud Shot, Mud Slap, Quick Attack, Take Down, and Tackle are possible fast moves. Earthquake and Dig are possible charge moves; Earthquake is more damaging, but Dig has a better damage-per-energy ratio.
1Vivillon
Vivillon is a butterfly Flying/Bug type Pokémon that will be caught be many, and used by few. In the main series Vivillon had almost twenty different forms. The region in which a player resided determined what Form of Vivillon a player could catch. This wonderful variety of Vivillon will almost certainly be incorporated intoPokémon GO. It has a CP of 1885, an attack of 176, a defense of 103, and a stamina of 190. The only fast move Vivillon learns in the main series is Struggle Bug; which is fairly strong and gives a good amount of energy. Draining Kiss, Hurricane, Bug Buzz, and Psybeam are possible charge moves; Bug Buzz is a powerful and efficient charge move.
