Summary
AfterResident Evil 4 Remake’s Separate Ways campaign, there’s a real argument for Ada Wong to get her own spin-off game. While she hasn’t been the focus of any game to date, Ada is one of the more interesting figures in the series.Resident Evil 4 Remakegave her another big role, and it could be a test for her potential future with the series.Resident Evilhas something of a rotating set of protagonists, so another hero wouldn’t be out of the question. Considering her history, Ada Wong could definitely captain her own spin-off title.
Considering how many timesAda Wong has appeared outside ofResident Evil, it’s safe to say that she is one of the series' more iconic characters. A shady spy with a mysterious past, Ada has worked for several different entities in the series. Her mercenary nature means that her goals can differ greatly from those of the heroes at times. Despite this, Ada still has some degree of conscience, and she can come through for the side of good when push comes to shove. This is especially true when Leon Kennedy is involved, whose life she saved multiple times duringResident Evil 4.

Ada Wong Would Fit Well as a Resident Evil Protagonist
Ada has shown that she can carry a story inResident Evil 4’s Separate Ways campaign. Although it was only a few hours long, it still gave players a glimpse of how she works as a protagonist. As one would expect from her portrayal in the series to date, she’s calm, professional, and a bit snarky. At the same time, her freelancer status gives her more of an edge. It’s a shame that the campaign is so short compared to the main game, butRemake’s version upgraded the original and made it far more interesting. After Separate Ways, the next step for Ada should be a full adventure.
Putting Ada in the lead role could lead to anotherexcellentResident Evilspin-off. Because Ada is an independent agent, a game starring her could add depth to lesser-explored areas of theResident Evilworld, rather than continuing to focus on the Umbrella Corporation and its experiments. Ada has worked for Umbrella competitors in the past, so she has probably seen some chaotic situations that the series' other protagonists haven’t. It could be a real chance to introduce new types of villains and monsters that might not come up otherwise. An Ada spin-off could be one of the more interesting side stories the series has seen.
An Ada-helmed spin-off could have one potential flaw, however. While she is almost as iconic asResident Evil’s main villain Albert Wesker, a lot of Ada’s character revolves around her enigmatic nature. If a spin-off started giving concrete answers about her past, it could end up taking away some of the mystique of the character. Likewise, her being a wild card is an established part of her character, so casting her as a straight hero would introduce its own set of problems. Ada thrives on being mysterious and morally grey, and removing either of those traits in a spin-off could hurt her as a character.
Ada Wong is a popular character, and a spin-off starring her would be a good reason for fans to get excited. What role she will play infuture installments ofResident Evilis still up in the air, although it’s unlikely that she will disappear from the series. Whether it follows the current timeline or takes players back to the past, a game starring Ada could be a great way to try something new with the franchise both gameplay and story-wise. IfResident Evilcomes out with an Ada Wong spin-off, the series could see a windfall.
