Considering thatHogwarts Legacywas first revealed at the PlayStation Showcase held in September 2020, many have since been wondering if the game would have some form of console-exclusive content for Sony’s platform. There were already various forms of exclusivity planned forHogwarts Legacy, and the reveal of all the editions for the game last August confirmed pre-order bonuses for the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Collector’s Edition. Things like the Thestral Mount, the Dark Arts cosmetic set, and the Onyx Hippogriff had already been revealed, but yesterday’sState of Play presentationincluded more details about the new entry in the Wizarding World.
Hogwarts Legacywill have a PlayStation-exclusive questline that takes place in a shop in Hogsmeade, the iconic village near Hogwarts in both theHarry Potterbooks and movies, and it looks quite spooky. Because this piece of content fromHogwarts Legacyseems to delve into horror themes that the base game could only touch upon with the Dark Arts, the newHarry Potter-inspired game from Warner Bros. Interactive is set to be best played on PS5 at launch. Not only that, though, but the platform is also known for its great use of the DualSense controllers, which could likely enhance the overall experience when exploringHogwarts Legacy’s open world.

Why Hogwarts Legacy’s Perfect Match is With PlayStation
BecauseHogwarts Legacyseems to put a lot of emphasis on the magic duels between players and powerful creatures or fellow wizards and witches, casting different spells while using the DualSense controllers could be great with their haptic feedback. Fiery explosions are also a common element in the battles of Portkey Games' new title, and blazing spells have been showcased multiple times in thetrailers forHogwarts Legacyfar. Battles are not the only place where PlayStation 5’s controllers can shine, though.
Flying on the game’s mounts, brewing potions in theRoom of Requirements, or partaking in lessons at the titular magic school can all be activities where the in-depth adaptable feedback from DualSense controllers makes it well worth the console experience. And yet, the perfect setting for the DualSense controllers inHogwarts Legacycould very well be the newly announced PS-exclusive The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest. In typical horror game fashion, this quest seems to use a blend of illusory reality, darkness or dim lights, and jump-scares to surprise players.
The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop questalso features what appears to be an exclusive enemy type in the form of animated mannequins, which weren’t showcased in other trailers forHogwarts Legacy. Not only does the quest explore a completely new dungeon with the addition of NPCs that won’t likely be part of other stories, such as Madam Mason, but it also offers players the opportunity to set up shop in Hogsmeade with the best prices in the game when the mystery of the haunted shop is solved. This is going to be a huge advantage for PlayStation fans' playthrough, to the point that playing Hogwarts Legacy on Sony’s console on launch seems to be the best way to experience the game as a whole.
Furthermore, the PlayStation version ofHogwarts Legacywill always provide players with the recipe to craft the famous Felix Felicis potion, regardless of the edition they purchase. The luck potion has an interesting in-game effect that reveals gear chests on the mini-map for a whole in-game day, which is quite beneficial while exploring Hogwarts and the surrounding areas. This content will be exclusive to PlayStation platforms for a whole year, which makes them the perfect place to start one’s adventure inHogwarts Legacy.
