Two new horror series are currently under development atAMC Plus, including a reimagining of the cult classicSeconds, as well as Victor Lavalle’sThe Devil in Silver, the first season in what the network hopes to be a psychological horror-driven anthology series.

The 1966 filmSeconds, based on a novel by David Ely, was directed by John Frankenheimer and starred Hollywood legend Rock Hudson. It told the tale of a man given a chance to start his life over with a clean slate after plastic surgery alterations by a sinister corporation known as The Company, only to find himself haunted by his past.

According toDeadline, AMC’s version will star a female lead with a similar plotline to the classic original. The team behind the remake includes executive producer and showrunner Mark Lafferty, Mark Johnson, and Melissa Bernstein, as well as Peter Douglas, who reportedly obtained the rights to several Frankenheimer films for possible remakes.AMCplans forThe Devil in Silverto be the first in an anthology series involving average people caught in today’s horrors. The first season comes from the mind of creator and executive producer Victor Lavalle and is based on his novel of the same name. Season 1 tells the story of a man committed to an institution where he must battle far more sinister forces than his own mind.

Both projects are beingdeveloped under AMC Networks' established “scripts-to-series” model, which involves opening writers' rooms to develop prospective shows with multiple scripts for straight-to-series consideration.BonfireandDamascusbecame new series under the model. Producers working on both new projects include many behind the recent AMC dramatic hitHalt and Catch Fire. Deadline quotes AMC president Dan McDermott as saying, “As we continue to establish AMC+ as the home of premium marquee content for adults, these projects are both right in the sweet spot of that brand and value proposition – great stories with unforgettable characters that breakthrough and say something about our broader world."

AMC has a history of outstanding horror series offerings with itssuccessfulThe Walking Deadseriesand several new Anne Rice novel adaptations underway, including the upcomingInterview With The Vampire. These new projects promise the high-quality original programming that AMC is known for. Once known for playing exclusively Hollywood classics, the past decade and change have brought the studio to the forefront of both cable and streaming offerings.
