TheEminence in Shadowcenters around a young boy in modern-day Japan who desires to be the most powerful mastermind who exerts his control over the world from the shadows.Like the typical Isekai, in his quest to achieve his desires, the young protagonist is aided to his death by the fan-favorite Truck kun, and is reborn into another world marking the beginning of his world conquering adventure.
The Cult of Diablos is the major antagonist of TheEminence in Shadow. It is an old, mysterious organization that seeks absolute dominion. The public dismisses them as a fable at best, while they secretly run the world utilizing the power of the demon Diablos to achieve immortality and ensure their rule lasts forever.

7History Of The Cult
The name would suggest that the cult was founded to worship the Demon Diablos. However, this is not the case, as the cult came about as a result of gathering orphans from the three races of the Elves, Humans and Beastkins. They were implanted in the cells of Diablos and experimenting on them so much that nearly all the orphans eventually die. Only three survive, one from each race. The survivors then go on to become The Three Heroes of legend, who go on to defeat the demonDiablos.
The cult does not genuinely worship Diablos, but merely cravesthe power of the demonas is portrayed in the anime in the visions of the sanctuary. The Cult of Diablos is less a religion and more of a group of malevolent scientists. It is not a single entity, as there are several factions within the cult under the control of different members of theKnights of Rounds.

6The Knights Of The Rounds
The Knights of the Rounds are the leadership arm of the cult, consisting of the twelve strongest of the cult’s members. They are based off the Knights Of The Round Table in Arthurian legends, with some members bearing the names of the original Knights of the Round Table. Some are also inspired by Norse mythology like Loki and Fenrir.

An important requirement to being one of the twelve knights is being a “Named.” Each member of the Round is entitled to a drop of the Tears of Diablos.
5The Tears Of Diablos
In the Cult’s pursuit forsuperhuman strength and poweras well as immortality, the Tears of Diablos were created via the experimentation and nurturing of the cells of Diablos. This achieved their goal, albeit not completely.
A maximum of twelve tears can be produced per year. These are used as a yearly dosage given to the twelve Knights of the Round to sustain its effects of immortality. In an effort to rectify the shortcomings of the Tears, the cult employs a variety of methods, which include abducting the descendants of the Three Heroes for continuous experiments. The even alter history by rebranding the Curse of Diablosas Demon Possession.

4The Curse Of Diablos
The defeat of the Demon Diablos at the hands of the Three Heroes unleashed the Curse of Diablos. The Demon is defeated and its body dismembered, and then it is sealed in the Sanctuary. However,he first places a curseon the Three Heroes and their descendants. One of these curses causing rotting bodies, and this becomes known as the Curse of Diablos.
In a bid to make the descendants of the Three Heroes more accessible for their research and experimentation, the Cult manipulates the history and the populaceinto thinking the curse is also Demonic possession.

3The Children Of Diablos
The Cult kidnaps and raises children in the harshest and most severe of training and indoctrination, carefully grooming them to become the ideal creations for the cult’s agenda. Their training is coupled with a series of experimentation and drug administration so severe that less than 10% of the children remain alive to graduate through it.
Upon graduation, they are organized into classes of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd children. The 1st children are those who successfully go through the process and retain normalcy, and at the same acquire extraordinary power enough to rival eventhe most powerful of Knights. The 2nd children also remain somewhat mentally stable, but are less powerful than the 1st children. Lastly, the 3rd children are deemed as the failures of the process. They survive the process, but what is left of them is barely recognizable. They are the perfect disposable tools for the cult, with just enough power and fighting prowess above the average Knight.

2The Holy Church Is The Cult Of Diablos
Through episodes 11–13, it appears that Holy Church is indeed one and the same as the Cult of Diablos, as it is discovered that Archbishop Nelson is a member of the Knights of Rounds. As easy as it may seem to come to such a conclusion, upon closer inspection, fans will see that this is false. The Archbishop Nelson was put there as a means for the cult to expand their continuously growing influence after the previous Archbishop Drake was mysteriously murdered.

As it has done in the past, it has used many of its members to infiltrate and plant themselves in positions of power across various spheres of influence in order to continue manipulating information about the Three Heroes, Demon Diablos, and evenThe Shadow Garden. Although the cult controls only a small portion of the church due to having only a few members of its upper echelon, the rest of the church and its members are unaware of their activities.
1Aurora: The Demon Diablos
As shocking as it might have been, Aurora becoming the demon Diablos was not entirely unexpected. Through episodes 13–14, the story depicts Aurora’s memories as a child in different instances and at different times.
It is worth noting that Aurora is also one of the children kidnapped by the cult and forced to go through their training process. Although it is possible to speculate, it is currently unclear how she became the Demon Diablos.
