There’s a feeling that permeates a room when a famous person enters. But sometimes the celebrity is basically a living legend, and sometimes the room is actually a set for a highly anticipated superhero movie. Skipping to the point, the movie world has finally gotten its first glimpse atMichael Keaton reprising his role as Bruce Waynefor the first time since 1992’sBatman Returns, and he’s… got a wig?
A sly photographer has managed to grab some pics from the set of the upcoming DC filmThe Flash, and they’ve not only captured the expected shot of Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen/The Flash with Kiersey Clemons as reporter Iris West, but they also managed to secure the first clear picture of Keaton back in the saddle as Bruce Wayne. Both pictures were posted by Reddit user Samoht99 on the DC_Cinematic subreddit, spurring plenty of lively conversation about a number of topics, apparently including hair. Seen amidst a crowd of cast and crew members, Keaton can be observed sporting a gray wig with a rather epic widow’s peak, because apparently, it would be unseemly for Batman to appear with male pattern baldness, no matter how coolthe Dark Knight’s classic suitmay be.

A slightly more blurry shot depicts Miller and Clemons on the steps of what appears to be a courthouse, in a shot that isn’t particularly exciting, but at least confirms Clemons’s own presence in the film following her absence from the theatrical cut ofJustice League. This is sure to perk up the ears of some Snyder Cut fans, since this seems to hint that the film will (at least tacitly) follow in the footsteps ofZack Snyder’s epic 4-hour re-cut of the controversial film.
The Flashwill apparently tell its own version of the famous (or infamous) “Flashpoint” storyline from the DC comics, in which Barry Allen travels back in time to save his mother’s life. As a result of his actions, he throws the entire timeline into disarray, changing events throughout history and even bringing back long-lost versions of characters. When The CW’sThe Flashseries tackled the same story, it seemed to keep most of its changeswithin the rest of the “Arrowverse,“but based on Keaton’s presence, it looks like the movie version is going to be a bit more ambitious.
Considering the film will also reportedlyfeature Ben Affleck alongside Keaton as separate versions of Batman, it’s seriously looking to be one heck of a spectacle. After the buzz surroundingZack Snyder’s Justice League, anticipation is probably as high as it could ever be. So even the smallest teases like this are bound to inspire lots of excitement, but from both new fans who got into it due to the recent films as well as fans of Tim Burton’s classic movies, where Keaton set what many still consider to be the standard for the best take on Bruce Wayne.
So stay excited and stay ready for more sneak peeks in the many, many months still remaining between now and the release ofThe Flashnext year. Sure, it’s a long wait.
