Sylas is a powerful mage with the capacity to see the magic in other people and steal it when necessary. Along with the chains he wields as weapons, Sylas uses his abilities to great effect. Here are a few ways to get the most out of Sylas’ abilities and quickly advance in the game.
Copy Spells
Sylas can steal magic from his foes by drawing it out of them with his chains. This allows him to cast the stolen spell once before needing to copy it again. After Sylas has copied a spell, it becomes available in Leilani’s shop to be purchased as a petricite spell. Petricite spells can be cast at the cost of mana without the need for copying.
Mostencounters that include spellcastersdo so with opposing pairs of mages. For example, Nature and Wind mages are often in the same encounter. To take them out quickly, copy spells from one and direct them at the other. This won’t cost any mana, and the enemies will take maximum damage.
Use Heavy Attacks
Sylas can swing his chains to deal physical damage with light or heavy attacks. Light attacks are key to combos, but heavy attacks are much more effective. Heavy attacks stagger foes along with the incredible damage they deal. Most foes can be taken down with one or two heavy attack combos. Also, certain enemies use armor that can only be damaged by heavy attacks.

Don’t Mash Buttons
It’s easy to followthe habit of button-mashingwith most action RPGs where inputs are resolved in sync with animations.The Mageseeker, however, doesn’t allow for this. Players’ inputs are recorded as they’re pressed, not as each action is completed. For example, if a combo requires X + X + Y, players must input that sequence specifically. If they mash the light attack button until two light attacks finish and then try to wrap up with a heavy attack, they’ll execute a different combo.
Find Recruits
Sylas will meet many Outlaws inhis travels through Demaciathat will join his cause and bolster the Hideout with their expertise. However, the Outlaws need recruits to get stronger. Each Outlaw has a progression system that only advances when their number of recruits reaches certain thresholds.
To find recruits, players should send their Outlaws on missions identified with the Recruit symbol. They should also keep an eye out for recruits during missions. The recruits can’t be assigned to particular Outlaws. Instead, the Outlaws decide which recruits they want to take on. This means that the player has no control over which Outlaws progress faster.
Prioritize Extra Mana Upgrades
Players will collect resources along their adventure that they can use to improve Sylas’ capabilities. One of the most impactful choices is that of which petricite spells Sylas picks up from Leilani’s shop. There’s a tree of choices for each school of magic, but only some of them offer increases to Sylas’ maximum mana. These spell trees should be prioritized so Sylas will have the necessary mana to cast higher-level spells as they become available.
